Sorry I was confusing. The original problem I posted about was a "timed" shutoff of my network connection. This is still happening on my desktop computer, and did happen to me the last time I used Solus on my laptop. Since I also have Mint running on the laptop - which is how I'm accessing this forum, I know the WiFi is still working. Not only that, I know it works on my laptop. And is not hidden. I have no idea why Solus marked it as such. This is a new problem, although I suspect it might be linked to the trouble I'm having with the desktop. I have a cable modem to Cox, and a plain vanilla router out of the box. Nothing strange, although I do have the longest password I could get the router to accept. No VPN.
The desktop is a slightly less usual connection. Due to location issues between the modem / router and the computer itself, I use a range extender to connect it, with an Ethernet cable running from the range extender to the desktop. This is the machine I've been using most of the time. Again, Mint never had any problems with this. Solus is fine when I first boot, and for a while afterwards, then, as I use the connection, it suddenly stops being able to connect.
There is one other strange feature of this I've noticed at times. When the connection first cuts out, it seems as if I can still access the sites "baked in" to my browser. For example, I could still search Google, Reddit, or whatever. But if I tried to access the results, I'd be told they were unavailable. It sounds strange, and I have not tested this every time. But I did notice it as an odd detail.
