• websites only optimized for one browser, top of my hate chart if that browser is still Internet Explorer
• people thinking they have options on an iPhone. No, if you install Chrome, it's still running webkit. It's just Safari with a new skin
• the Linux Mint website. Just all of it, it's bad
• The lack of innovation in mobile phones. Yes Samsung and a few others are trying to make folding happen, but mostly it's still the candybar slab form factor. Moto tried (and failed) with Moto mods, ASUS has some cool hardware with the ROG phones, but phones used to be fun and innovative with some crazy feature
• the lack of OS level updates for Android devices. I know without controlling the hardware and distrobution of the updates, it's impossible for Google to say it will work, but manufacturers can do better. Look at the failure that was the AndroidOne program, only Nokia was any kind of "quick" and no phone lasted the lifecycle like was claimed.
• micro USB. Just die already. USB-C is far superior and everyone knows it
• laptops made after 2018 without at least 1 USB-C port (mine included)

Built to last is my biggest wish of this century but it's a dream. Short life span>>swollen landfills>>buy another one is such a toxic (design) loop.

the EOL nature of AndroidOS is one of the many things that i hate,wish it was rolling-release 🙁
what i mean to say is that i have many relatives who still run version 5/6 and they have not updated their OS for several years...just think how many security bugs might exist on their devices 🤯

another thing i hate is the dominance of Ubuntu in the Linux world...no offense to the OS at all but i think its popularised way too much. in fact i heard of ubuntu before i even knew what Linux was....and when i switched to Linux i was somewhat surprised that ubuntu was nothing but Linux. hardware vendors like Origin,minisforum and nzxt know what ubuntu is but they do not know what fedora/arch/solus is. in 2019 when steam revealed that they were ending support for steam for ubuntu, many people thought that steam was ending support for linux altogether because they thought only ubuntu was Linux.
(sorry some grammar errors i think but you get the idea i hope)

I don't agree about Ubuntu. It was my first Linux experience back in 2010 when I switched. I got a little pissed when they started to use Unity which was slow and buggy, so I found Linux Mint and used it for years. Ubuntu was popular but it really worked. I tried other distros then and I had various problems with optimization, drivers, bugs, wine etc. For most people it's a good start with Linux, then they can explore and distrohop untill they find their favourites.

another thing i hate is adaptive mouse acceleration. i spent 2-3 years (so its not that i didnt give it a proper try) not being able to hit a single button, thinking there was something wrong with my mouse or my eyes before i realised some genius had decided to change the behaviour by default

Lucien_Lachance I'm using Redragon Centrophorus gaming Mouse. It's cheap and never had problems with it's behavour. The design is just fine, it's big not like some of these flat abominations and had adjustable weight. The breathing red light is kind of annoying. It can be switched off but the software doesn't recognize the mouse when installed with wine, so it's another design fail: lack of switch for the light.

MattX I think that is a flarum bug. One of my posts also recently showed up as deleted for a short while but then it fixed itself.

That's not a bug ... it's a feature of this and many fora. Once someone has accessed your post, you can't change it. In a debate, for example, you can't claim not to have written something that someone reacted to or answered.

Sometimes it's inconvenient, such as if you'd just like to correct a typo, but it's the way things work.

probably the big one for me is web video players. they're basically antagonistic to the user.

OK, so I've clicked it and the video started playing. clicking it again should pause it, right? nope, now it's fullscreen. click the "un-fullscreen" button and click the little pause button.

now let's say I want to scrub back to a particular part of the video. as soon as you let go of the scrubber thing, the video un-pauses regardless of whether you were ready to start watching. same with the mute/unmute buttons un-pausing again for no apparent reason. so aggravating.

obviously they're not all like this (youtube is ok) but the twitter/facebook/etc. ones are just abysmal...

RGB led lights... ok I don't hate them, I'm an electrician and I love how good ones look, and A/C ones are amazingly easy to install and durable... but why installing RGB in everything? wardrobe, computers, sound boxes, behind TV's, tables, doors, even bathroom... why? It looks like an Christmas tree;
As mentioned before, AndroidOS... my cellphone is android 9, and I use it for banking, buying from apps... it has not received an update for so much time, I don't know if I can trust it anymore, even if security updates comes from Asus, the OS is not upgraded;
Xbox controllers, It's not the asymmetrical design, but how bad it is on my hands, even nintendo switch pro controllers feels better, I don't know why but xbox360/one hurts my hands a lot;
How steam always ask me my age when in browser;
IFTT automation, really, it is awful to work with this things, even if it is in your house, in front of you, your home server has to send data to an external server for it to work, why? really? without internet it will not work as expected and not create scenes, and because of the low cost of this products I'm doomed to keep integrating them.
