only USD? why no other currencies?

Maybe because the Open Collective is based in California?
Unless you intend to find a way to contribute currency somehow, it probably doesn't matter. Every financial institution can easily convert your contribution to USD, whether it's done by PayPal, credit card, etc.

This. The Open Source Collective is a registered nonprofit based out of California. Sites like Patreon might convert the costs to your local currency, but it will ultimately get converted to the currency of the financial entity receiving it.
JoshStrobl @DataDrake Thank you for doing this and allowing us to contribute. I've pledged monthly and hope to continue seeing this awesome distro flourish. So happy to be a (small) part of this endeavor.
@Lucien_Lachance Given the amount you donated amounted to basically Crew levels, I manually updated your tier in the SendGrid import to Crew. You should get the emails when they get sent out. Shoot me an email joshua [at] getsol.us
if you don't get one today and I'll sort you out.
Same goes for everyone else here. If you donated for a year and it amounts to tier amount x 12, send me an email and I will see what I can do personally. I'll also end up creating a "manual" tier and tweak the SendGrid MLs a bit so I can better keep track of it, but I'd rather do that than all of you be out some fancy ISOs.
Any plans for a merch shop? I would absolutely buy a Solus hoodie if I knew proceeds were going towards development and infrastructure funding.

oh and thanks for the manual add!
edit: for others strugging, to use wget the download url would be https://user:pass@getsol.us...
Brucehankins No plans.
@Lucien_Lachance Thanks, will take a look.
@Lucien_Lachance Just an update. I did make some changes that may help, however I was able to download it successfully regardless. I am 100% open to working to improve it and provide other mechanisms for OpenCollective members to download it though!

Hello everyone! I'm Georgiy Bogdanoff known as Dr.Sheppard, i'm living in Russia and i have one question. Fintech is not well developed in Russia (i knew, because i'm working in one of largest bank of country). 2 payment methods are available on OpenCollective: credit card and PayPal (working in Russia). What is the best way to donate so that Solus gets the most out of the amount?
update:
$3.00 USD Stripe fees $0.39 USD, PayPal fees $0.42 USD;
$5.00 USD Stripe fees $0.45 USD, Paypal fees $0.50 USD
$10.00 USD Stripe fees $0.59 USD, Paypal fees $0.69 USD
George Generally credit card processing fees are lower, however IIRC OpenCollective refunds processing fees regardless.

GeorgeYou have to consider the amount you are going to donate.
Looking at the current transactions we can see that, Solus get:
for 1$ - 0.56% of 1$.
for 3$ - 0.75%
for 5$ - 0.8%
for 10$ - 0.83%
for 25$ - 0.84%
for 50$ - 0.85%
for 300$ - 0.86%
So I think one time 12$ is better than 1$ monthly.
Not sure about Credit Card and Paypal.
Been looking forward to this (weirdly) for a while, i've been a big fan of Solus since the early days, its my daily driver for work and home, glad i get to give something back even if its just a few quid to keep the lights on, keep up the frankly awesome work
Only $90k more all! C'mon!
Signed up for the Beta tester tier, bumped it to $11 dollars to cover the fee's and stuff!
Do emails get sent retroactively or do I need to wait til the next email gets sent.
Thanks for all your work
cdashrowe They do not get sent retroactively, you'll get some ISOs tomorrow when I do the next snapshots
