Will updates ever break Solus?

I had one update give me a black screen several years ago (something something Nvidia driver) and even then it was fixable with a live CD and the detailed instructions from forum members. Compare and contrast to the countless hours I have spent troubleshooting other OSes (ahem), with seemingly random errors showing up out of the blue (I made a funny).

There's probably something to be said about hardware compatibility, but that's not really the fault of linux. Mainstream anything means more options but also more problems. My current run with Solus has been mostly trouble free, with only minor oddnesses showing up here and there.

My opinion Solus has become more stable and if issues arise usually with apps and other
changes which is going to be unavoidable at times but the team is great in those respects and things
chug on.

AlphaElwedritsch makees sense, shouldn't keep Manjaro on here if I can never update it, besides getting a new kernel. I have Windows on the sys also,, how can I get that on the bootloader, it is Lilo right?

You can update Manjaro (or vanilla Arch, or anything Arch based); you simply can't update it whenever you want, even if there's more or less daily package updates. You have to keep an eye on the official forums, read the release notes, know your system well and update when you are confident that nothing will break.
A very big part of the effort from the Solus team is exactly this: testing updates before releasing them to the users, so that there will be a very, very low (but non zero: as Harvey said, that's impossible) probability of unrecoverable fuck ups.

I will do a separate/home so if I have to reinstall, I don't need to start completely over. The only thing is the bootloader doesn't list Windows. Why don't you guys use Grub? I have a GIGABYTE B550I AORUS PRO AX (AM4 AMD/B550/Mini-Itx/Dual M.2/SATA 6Gb/s/USB 3.2 Gen 1/WiFi 6/2.5 GbE LAN/PCIe4.0/Realtek ALC1220-Vb/DisplayPort 1.4/2xHDMI 2.0B/RGB Fusion 2.0/DDR4/Gaming Motherboard) any probs. with that? Also, will the Nvidia driver kill Solus, like it did Manjaro?

yuck.

to install in legacy (grub) you have to force the bios into legacy.
as for windows? use windows diskmgmt to create the solus partition not a live iso (that's what Win recs and what I've always done in the days they would live side by side.
You know, having Win and Solus next to each other (same disk) was probably one of the worst decisions I ever made and I'd never do it again.

brent They are both on a separate drive. I could just press my boot screen button to boot Windows, if thay is easier. Oh, is their a easier was to log into the forums, the find X is hard sometimes, vision issues? Plus the /home partition?

AlphaElwedritsch sorry I will retype it, each is on its own drive & I can hit f11 to bring up the boot screen. Manjaro Firefox has a reveal pasword option when you right click a pasword feild, does Solus?
