Solus Updates for Week 8, 2025
Harvey No idea wtf is going on with the CDN. For people who still have an issue cancel the update and do this
Thanks for posting that workaround. It solved the issue for my Plasma laptop, but there are a number of other machines and VMs here that can wait a bit before updating, if necessary. What are the chances that the CDN issue will be resolved in a day or two if I'm patient enough to wait a while?
Or should I just bite the bullet and get started on updating them all now, based on the workaround? It occurs to me that Solus may not be the only account that's affected by this, and others - somewhere - may be a work on a fix already.
Hello,
Yesterday on a PC, I used the commands provided by Harvey, it worked without a problem.
This morning, I updated 2 other PCs normally via Discover, the problem seems to be solved, the updates downloaded and installed normally.
Big problems as mentioned by other users
Update with 40kb/s till it stops completely.
Normal internet speed, installing Apps, fast as usual.
Never ever had that before with solus.
Achined There is a workaround above https://discuss.getsol.us/d/11393-solus-updates-for-week-8-2025/19
After the linux-firmware
workaround, gnome-software
picked up everything else and restarted to update with no further problems.

I was only using my 15.6" Lenovo Ideapad yesterday, the firmware update was really slow so I canceled it, then did via terminal a few hours later as I really needed to get some work done, and it fixed itself finding another server, but my 2 desktops, and other 14.1" Lenovo laptop today both failed to find the other server via terminal only downloading at around 400 Kbps max but, to note I'm on 5G internet with speeds of almost 900 Mbps down line of site of the tower, but the fix posted here worked, I just hope it's fixed for good soon, as I have several family members on Solus, & don't want to be doing tech support calls this week LOL!

do harvey's workaround near the top. it worked fine for the new kernel. I have a Lenovo thinkcentre but think this problems was hardware-agnostic.
brent I already did, I was just reporting my experience, & that I hope it gets a full fix soon, as I don't want to be doing tech support for family this week.

yeah well this thread made my head dizzy . No one answered my question why I installed a new kernel that night then another new kernel on waking. this cdn thing was truly an anomaly.
