Waiting for verification email to come through. They'll be back on Monday to sort that out and then I'll work on Dutch.
Calling all translators
Added Ukranian
Another progress post: We've now completed Arabic, Dutch, Spanish, and Swedish; with starts on a few others.
just curious, why the difference in colour? greenish, blueish...
nolan: strings in transifex go: suggested -> translated -> reviewed. Green is translated. Blue is reviewed.
davidjharder Hey David, question here:
Instruction says: If a string includes a new-line character, be sure to include it in the same place in the translation.
Is same place to be understood as of like behind the equivalent word in the translation, or rather as after the same amount of characters?
Also, does
Do not translate the following strings; leave them untouched:
Packagekit
XDG_SESSION_DESKTOP
mean I cannot translate Packagekit update error
as Packagekit-Update-Fehler
? In the same sense, can {}
be directly followed by -
like that {} session
becomes {}-Sitzung
?
@Sebastian
New lines should be placed to break up equivalent amounts of text to get reasonable spacing. They don't need to be after exact words.
"Packagekit" is a name so it should not be translated, I think "Packagekit-Update-Fehler" is fine, as long as a German speaker (I assume this is German) would understand that "Packagekit" is the name of the thing giving the error.
"{}" followed by a dash should be fine.
davidjharder Oops I'll go back to untranslate 'packagekit' from the Hebrew.
inkbug Lol. Thanks for translating!
davidjharder Done
davidjharder Thanks for the clarification. Yes, that is german. We like to combine severval words to one with dashes a lot.
By the way, all german translators here work on German (Austria) (de_AT). Which is fine, doesn't make any difference for our translation purposes here.
Just make sure that all people with any kind of german locale get the same translation,
like German (Germany) (de_DE) and what else there might be.

Yes, the German speakers understand it very well.
Cheers!
Thanks to our volunteer translators, we now have 16 locales completed

@joebonrichie has been running the MTT through its paces. First batch of translations are looking good
Any chance translators can run this tool bare-metal on a spare hard drive or in a VM for final check of translations before release?
Sebastian It's landed in unstable now so if you have a MATE install or wish to setup a Solus 4.4 MATE vm you can
