I am on Solus Budgie, and every time I boot up Brave, it asks for the admin password. Is this intentional behaviour or a bug?
Why is Brave asking for the admin password on startup?
elfprince Is that why? But why?
Judging from that behaviour, it seems that although you don't need to type a password in order to log on to a session, apparently Brave believes you should still need one to start it. If you've not logged on with a password, it asks for one. I have no idea why a browser would do that, but that appears to be what's happening.
You could check that hypothesis by changing the requirement to log on with a password. If the password is used when Solus is launched, does Brave still require you to provide it later? This seems like a silly workflow to me, but that seems to be what's happening.
Something like that has happen to me, in my case was a password related thing, a password was changed I guess user password, chrome user profile, chrome password vault or something I don't remember, reinstalling chrome fixes the problem for me.
not common but the problem exists at Brave forums. read two threads. one was a Snap problem I know you don't have that. the other was something interacted with the gnome-keyring (if its still called that) because something got changed.
clear cache, history, saved password and reboot solus would be in my plan.
who is asking for a password? a solus prompt? or a brave prompt?

elfprince Well probably because of google services. Similar post here: https://discuss.getsol.us/d/1693-get-rid-of-unlock-keyring-pop-up
algent If this is the problem, in those last two posts, then I'm sure this could be fixed in Brave settings under Site Settings or where that allowed 3rd party google sign in thingy is. that's if elfprince has all the google stuff enabled.
"Remove the password from the keyring, go to the keyring settings > right click the keyring > change password > type in your current password and leave the new password empty.
That's what I did, yes it's unsecure but less annoying on your private PC were only you have access"
---that was interesting from that thread also
This password query happens too, in Google Chrome browser - each time you start the browser.
I thought it is related to Gnome Desktop ?
So, I turned off auto-login and, sure enough, Brave stopped asking for password. Thanks for the tips!
Case closed and SOLVED.
Back when I had the problem this is what fixed it for me
