Hey all!
Framework just opened the pre-orders for its Framework 16" laptop to be shipped out late Q4 this year, and I've reserved one, which I am super stoked about. It is a fully repairable and upgradable laptop with open-sourced modules and a swappable discreet GPU.
My question here pertains to possible pain-points, if any, a new device running AMD's Ryzen™ 9 7940HS CPU and an AMD Radeon™ RX 7700S GPU could encounter when running under Solus. Out of the gate, they are supporting Ubuntu LTS and Fedora 38, so that's something. My gut tells me that since the machine sports AMD (CPU/GPU) and support is strong for AMD among the Linux community (AFAIK), that there won't be any issues on that front. There are other parts of this laptop that could potentially cause issues like wifi (though it may be baked into the CPU? I don't know how this stuff works), or the swappable ports (you can literally pull out your USB A and slot in a USB C port).
I'll ask this question on their forums, too, but since I'm planning on putting Solus on it, I thought I'd ask here. Thanks for reading and any thoughts are appreciated!
