Cloak If you'd like to figure out the issue, I'd ask that you create a new discussion with details such as at what step the installation failed, any error message, and any other information that might help. That makes it easier for everyone to keep track of the issue. Thanks! 🙂

    One step beyond!..
But stilll the infarious annoyance in the installer which still decides by itself where it will install the EFI/loader directories.
Just a 'mv' + efibootmgr, but still..

Anyway, long live Solus and a big THANK YOU to the staff who made the world's air more breathable!

EbonJaeger Correction - none of the ISO's will install in this particular Laptop. In fact neither will Fedora or Ubuntu... However I can get an Arch based system on it no problems. Leave it with me till I can document just what HP model it is and see if I can identify the H/W...

      Thank you so much !!!
      Finally dream comes true

Next step : Making people using & loving again Solus !
DistroWatch is a good way to promote Solus...
Somebody should contact them now to pass Solus from Dormant to Active Mode status for having Solus ranking again...
I remind myself when Solus was simply ramked Nunber 1 which is a good and a logical place fior Solus 🙂

Not according to them you're not.

We often receive e-mails from projects which have been Dormant and plan future releases (or from fans of dormant projects) asking us to update the distro's status to Active. This will be done automatically when a new stable release is published.

          Hum
Releases announcements should be sent first to them ? I don't think that they ping all distros' web site.

We have never sent them anything. They are an aggregator, they can aggregate just fine on their own, our RSS feeds are working there is nothing we can do it is on them.

          EDIT:

A new version of a distribution was released, but it wasn't announced on DistroWatch. Why?

          • We didn't know about the release. Although we try our best to traverse the Internet continuously in search for new distribution releases, we do miss some on occasion. In this case, please let us know about it - the preferred way is to simply e-mail us.

We will give them time to figure it out and email them if we are certain they have missed it.

Hi guys, first of all congratulations on the new release. I saw this on the changelog "Dual-GPU support in Budgie Menu when launching applications" , does solus support hybrid mode on a amd integrated gpu / nvidia gpu ?

            Thanks!

Thanks for providing that quote. I've shot off a polite e-mail to distrowatch from my @getsol.us address to ask how we might go about having Solus listed as Active again, along with links to the release blog post, the download page and the Release RSS feed.

Here's hoping it gets updated soon-ish.

brent yeah, I've never cared for it outside of MXLinux. I hope the Solus implementation of XFCE is as polished and nice as that.

Brucehankins If I remember correctly distros like Xubuntu have partially used MATE apps at least in the past, so I'm eager to see what decisions will be made regarding the XFCE implementation.

Thanks to you for that great work.Long live the king Solus...

I expect it will be. it's such an oddly fitting place (solus) for this distro. I look forward to it.

I am so happy that the new Isos are out. Thank you all so much!
The deprecation of Mate comes somehow unexpected, but I welcome it. Can`t put it in words, but Mate always feels just strange and not right to me. My personal preference would have been to replace Mate with Cinnamon, but I trust the judgement of the team. Am curious to see where things are going.

No worry : I agree with you!
                My 2 cents:
Best installer as of today, in my opinion : popOS. Flexible, simple, efficient, 2 stages approach.
Calamares : reputable for the user, but complex for the builder as I have understood.

                Have a nice week-end!

my personal choice too. it's wouldve come with its own set of obstacles no doubt.
