I must be one of the "blue people" you speak of. Elon is trying to get rid of a few million bots, I think. About half of my "followers" appear to be bots.
I'm tempted to block them, but I don't want to accidentally do that to a real person who's just new on Twitter. Besides, I'd have to spend half my time there evaluating my followers and trying to figure out who's real and who's not.
elfprince He gave some interesting statements yesterday, claiming Twitter was being "massively scraped" and something like there are "a ton of straws in this milkshake" or something thereabouts. No, he didn't say anything about a total lockout directly; sure sounds like he announced it indirectly, so I am not surprised. I went there today to "scrape" (yt-dlp) a couple interviews but alas, I am shut out too.

Plenty of evidence posted online that it's probably actually because they made a change that the official Twitter clients (including the website) don't know how to handle, so they just keep retrying connections on failure indefinitely, thus DDoSing Twitter. Really can't trust a word that man says.

Speaking of slimy, Zuckerberg is launching his own version of Twitter soon. That must scare Musk as well. WetGeek It's just a "problem, please retry" screen. of the three browsers I have its the same on all of them. they all have different addon/plugins so I don't think its me.
It's been 2 days I have not been granted the privilege to view any tweets. maybe I'm blacklisted? maybe they are screening by IP addresses? who knows. I've never had an account there and I've never engaged. I have no blacklists that I know of (there are channels to check) so I don't know if it's just me.
I understand he is on some bot inquisition so will check back when the dust settles.

That's a fair comment, but I'm willing to believe that the old Twitter has been cleaned up by now. I closed my account years ago, when it was clear that it wasn't for me. But when Elon bought it, restored free speech, and fired most of the real offenders, I joined again.
That was during the Solus Troubles, and it was a way to get some information from the team. So far, I haven't had any reason to regret that decision, apart from all the bots that are following me, but that seems to be getting cleaned up as well. I don't follow them back, so they're just a nuisance, not a danger.
WetGeek I've never spoke on Twitter, just liked to read comments. No account/membership either. No politics. I'm reading swaths of people have no access to Twitter whatsoever, at this moment, so I don't feel so crazy.
It was a fun place to find funny memes and oddball videos and that is about the sum of its value to me. I agree with you that I found none of Solus' avenues of communication adequate during the outage including that one.

You can use whatever you want, there is no reason for Solus to dump the platforms so long as at least one team member is willing to take care of it. Personally I do not like reddit/facebook/twitter/mastodon so I don't use them, I am not pushing the other team members to abandon it because its none of my business what they use.

My only regret in this world is creating the one-time only accounts (to send something, pay someting, civic reasons, job apps, etc) which is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too many useless user names and passwords out there. Backtracking and nuking is my next big project online. I am ashamed for all of them but the way of the internets these days sadly....the forum is the only place for info imho but like you said:

me too. it became unsafe and that was weird. weird enough to have a #2 right now.
For me the main annoyances is when I go to a website and they have a link to something on twitter that I can't read. No description, no embedding blah blah.
