With no sync Friday, or Saturday, or Sunday so far, I have to ask: Are we postponing this week's sync until next Friday? If so, no worries, but I'll quit checking 10 or 12 times a day for an update. I checked Twitter for an announcement as well, but just found a couple retweets from SerpentOS.

i was just on the element chat room , specific the Solus development channel, and made a inquiry . Apparently, there is some issue with NVIDIA drivers in the unstable repo that is delaying the sync if I understood correctly. Also the dev team is mostly likely preparing an official announcement / post and will post it to the forums shortly. Please be patient.

tuxlover4 all that's left to fret about is the 470 so look forward to the announcement

tuxlover4 here is some issue with NVIDIA drivers in the unstable repo that is delaying the sync

    Yes, this is correct.

An NVidia driver update that seemed innocuous was landed that turned out to be anything but, so that needs to be either sorted or reverted before a sync can happen.

brent and ermo thanks for the update . WetGeek the original post writer is mostly a forum user and does not , as I understand it , use Matrix . During the outage for the three months other users mentioned him/her as someone who sorely missed the forum which of course was down at the time .
That is why i posted my reply above in answer to WetGeek latest post. Thank you once again . The dev team is doing a great job and I and all of the other users are looking towards the future with Solus 4.4 etc.

      For the record:

      Ikey Doherty
PSA: Kernel updates going in Soon (TM)
Remember, nvidia driver users, hold back
      (unstable)
General plan is stick in 6.3.6, revert nvidia/drm cruft, do all driver rebuilds, get some ISO tests done, then hopefully sync

There you have it from the horse's mouth.

This forum user has tried several times. He's installed Element from the repository, and always gets as far as this,

but the email never arrives. Not after waiting for a long time and clicking to resend it multiple times.

Is there a better way to try to get access to Matrix? I know emails need to propagate through the system, but usually that takes a few seconds, in my experience. Minutes at the most. Not hours of days.

WetGeek I get past the email part then they want some gigantically long 'security key' as part two of the authentication and I lost that as soon as they gave it to me. They even say "write down and save" but seems so silly to me on a personal level.
Lots of hoops for a souped-up IM...
I'm just going to listen to Solus news from the grapevine and carrier pigeon and the good folks who bring the news here...all other methods are fraught with minesπŸ™‚.

            WetGeek

Still waiting for, "the link in the email we just sent to ..." Or the one from when I clicked, "Did not receive it? Resend it."

There's no question that the email account is active and accepting emails. It gets a new message every time someone from this forum replies to a message I've posted. But not a thing from Element.

            • ermo replied to this.

Sounds a lot more reliable. I'll just keep checking eopkg, and let you (and the rest of the forum) know if I find any news there.

Given that you (or your ISP) use the "spamexperts" service based out of the Netherlands, if I were you, I'd probably check both my spam folder and my client-side and ISP spam and filtering settings, given I don't hear about issues with matrix registration very often?

Alternatively, you can try to sign up for a matrix.org account via the in-browser element web-app (to rule out the solus package having an issue).

ermo if I were you, I'd probably check both my spam folder

I'm not sure what would give you the idea that I don't check. I do that every time. It's possible that you don't hear about issues with matrix registration very often because folks just give up after a while. As I did the first time I tried to register.

I am thankful that this came up. I agree that a notice should be posted on this Solus Forum by Saturday latest, if there are any possible forthcoming problems with the updates. I drop in to the Element Matrix each day, just for fun.
I do not see value in using it as the main line of communication with Solus users, since messages scroll up and get lost. Here, a post can be pinned for all users to see, under a suitable heading.

I believe that the forum should be given the priority attention rather than the Matrix, or Twitter, or Reddit, or ......
I find Matrix suitable for interpersonal communication, rather than for group notification.

                Thanks for listening! 😺

elfprince Another option, is to have the updates un-scheduled, but regular, roughly weekly to bi-weekly, and users can tell by their update notifications. This way pressure is off on both parties. 😊

Updates are Updates I would rather have a solid Update rather than one with issues If its delayed
so be it Quality rather than quanity.
I dont think its fair to get your hair in a frazzle when its delayed some but I can undestand concerning
                  previous events.
How when and why should be left up to developers but I agree if it bothers people we should be told for the
                  near future.

Way I see it we get em when we get em.
Hope I didnt ruffle any feathers.
