It's a Friday somewhere and guess what, we have updates for you.
@ReillyBrogan and I have been working on a CDN-backed binary package repository that should be able provide higher speeds (assuming cache hits) to servers closer to you. It is in its early days (well, more like hours 😃) but we would love to see you start using it, generating traffic, and even getting package updates.
That's right, package updates. You can expect some smaller updates, such as linux-current and linux-lts, brave, openssh, openvpn, sudo, docker stack, vivaldi, signal, firefox, thunderbird, and more. Sorry, did I say small?
To be clear, you will not need to manually switch to this in the future. We are working with RIT to start syncing our repo to their mirror so there will be no work on your part if you don't feel like jumping onto the CDN train right now. But if you're excited for updates, run one of the commands below.
- Check what repo you are using:
eopkg lr
- If you see shannon, run:
sudo eopkg ar Solus https://cdn.getsol.us/repo/shannon/eopkg-index.xml.xz
- If you see unstable, run:
sudo eopkg ar Solus https://cdn.getsol.us/repo/unstable/eopkg-index.xml.xz
- Upgrade!
sudo eopkg upgrade
