Solarmass Yes, what is the problem with it? I think it is nomal. It is behaving same as the ventoy app that I have installed system wide.

algent the problem is that when you launch it from Nemo - nothing happens..
And other usability problem, there is no "Extract" in the Nemo's context menu.

Solarmass Ah, now I get it. Just tried in nautilus and it launches fine. Sorry for misunderstanding.

algent Looks like opening Nemo as root to run Ventoy it is how is recommended in linux mint forums.

      hmm..
why they have this setting then? 🤔

        algent For this install nemo-fileroller

that will build 'extract' into the right-click context menu? asking for a friend

that is ultimately a 10X smaller hiccup then the stuff in nautilus

brent that will build 'extract' into the right-click context menu? asking for a friend

Yes. Adds "Extract Here" near end.

          yup!

Should be built-in into Nemo imo...

Solarmass why they have this setting then?

That is for text files and VentoyGUI.x86_64 is a binary file.

algent Oh! Anyway, I think Nautilus does it more userfriendly

compared to Nautilus, this is small potatoes and would not have driven me to Solus Mate! I'm getting an education on how Nemo works and its little quirks. I liked it in Ubuntu Budgie before I got rid of it. Thank you Solarmass for highlighting the difference in file managers.

I very much appreciate this how-to. I'm not sure what brand of meth the Gnome dev team prefers but they've been regularly breaking UI since they started working on Gnome 3 and it hasn't gotten much better since then.

Thanks for helping me get my Solus environment working again - the lack of drag-and-drop support and weird copy/paste issues was really starting to grate on my nerves.

I tried this but now I cant login anymore. Then I tried to install budgie via terminal again but there is the issue "failed to fetch file". Anyone any idea without reinstall the hole system?

[deleted] Just tried this in VirtualBox. Removed nautilus and installed nemo. nemo became automatically default file manager. But still you need to manually pin it to panel, and remove Files (nautilus) from there. Also autostart for desktop icons should be done manually at the moment.

algent nemo became automatically default package manager.

I believe you might have misspelled "file manager."

I think I might have done something wrong along the way, or perhaps missed a step. I have nemo as "Files," and Budgie Desktop Settings isn't itself anymore, but when I tried placing desktop icons anywhere on the right, they immediately sprang back to their customary Budgie position as soon as the mouse let go.

WetGeek I believe you might have misspelled "file manager."

Yes, I misspelled it 😅 . Thanks. Edited now.

WetGeek With the mouse right click anywhere on the empty desktop and on the popup menu select customize (or something similar... i use different language than English, so I don't how the menu entry is translated). A customization dialog window will open, and on it disable automatic placing of the icons.

That's what I missed somehow. Now my Budgie VM is acting just a little more like my Plasma VM. Scaling still seems to be just 100% or 200%, though.
