Bluestar Linux 6.0.12 Plasma - Observations, cont.
Trying this again from the beginning, but not stopping to post screenshots. Those from the first attempt are right above, and would not be any different this time. I figured out why the installation is such a slow process. The progress notification shows that it's installing 300,000+ files. It's now installing updates, which is as far as it got yesterday. I hope it's different today. This time, I'll leave it alone for a while. I might have interrupted it prematurely yesterday, when it seemed liike it wasn't doing anything anymore.
Like yesterday, it seems to be stuck at 91% for a long time. This time, I'll try to be more patient.
It's been well over 5 minutes now, and the progress indicator hasn't moved past 91%. However, the VirtualBox notification seem to indicate that execution is continuing. The narrow vertical indicator (3rd from the right) shows occasional movement. Still, my patience is running thin. If this distro weren't so interesting so far, I'd be gone already.
We're past 15 minutes now, and much as I hate to do it, I've gotta cancel this installationl. Just some comments about the bottom panel before I go ...
The icons, starting from the left, are "Peek at the screen," and next is a square showing four virtual desktops. #1 is occupied, #2 is next to it, and #3 and #4 are on the bottom. There's a blank space before the application icons begin, which I assume are the "favorites," followed by another blank space, and finally the trash can.
That's gonna be it for now, and having failed to get to the end twice, I doubt I'll try this again. If anybody else gives this distro a try, and succeeds, please tell me what happens after the installer gets to 91%. And if there was something you did that got it moving forward again, let me know what that was. On clicking [Cancel], this appears, so apparently the installer thinks something is still going on, but altogether it's been well over a half hour since we got to 91%, so I'm not fooled at all. Clicking [Yes].
