Nitrux 2.5.0 Observations, Cont.
Not much to say at this point, but if anyone is following along with this adventure and trying to install and make sense of Nitrux, here's a tip for you. You won't find a menu entry for Terminal, or for Konsole. You'll need to look for Station in the System sub-menu. I'm not kidding. Station. It does launch BASH by default, so at least that part will be familiar. To do an update after you've installed Nitrux, try apt update -y
followed byapt upgrade -y
.
Oh yeah, don't look for Dolphin, either. The file manager is called Index, and you can find it here in the System sub-menu, as well.
Index disappointed me. It's supposedly able to search for smb shared folders, but it isn't able to find my NAS in the Network location. Thus, I couldn't load the files I use to configure a VM that I'm testing. Nor was I able to install the Linux additions from VirtualBox (so I could get to those files via a shared clipboard), because Index doesn't offer any way that I could find to run an executable text file. I'll see if I can do it somehow via Station, but I'm not hopeful.
That's all for now. Let me know if anyone has any questions about this distro, but I'm going to take a break from configuring it. I've made up my mind that I'll never adopt Nitrux as a daily driver, but I want to experiment with the new software (e.g. kernel 6.x.x) for a while. I'll post another continuation if I find something worth reporting.
