Nitrux 2.5.0 Observations
For some reason, I'd never downloaded a Nitrux .ISO file, so I'm sure I've never seen it. But it's based on Debian and features a KDE deaktop, so it seems like a good distro to take a look at. Version 2.5.0 was just introduced on Distrowatch yesterday, so it ought to be new and shiny!
The installer is very slick, and it seems to have defaulted the user's location, as user input was started with the keyboard seletion. Other than the nice graphics, the progress through this wizard is very much the same as any other Linux installer.
Here's the software section from the About this System page. I'm leaving out the hardware section, because that's all about VirtualBox, and it's the same for every VM based on that system. I believe this is the first time I've used anything based on a 6.x.x kernel.
The system settings are all icon-based, but if you're familiar with them from other KDE systems, it's pretty easy to find your way here.
Sigh ...
Everything about this distro is soooo different from any other KDE I've ever seen, that i'm going to have to work hard to understand and configure it. That's gonna take much time and I don't want to leave this post unsent for that long. Thus, I'm going to leave it for today, and maybe continue it another time.
