ContraDix After choosing to boot from the USB, it just freezes in the way I told you.
Okay, Tom and I apparently didn't realize that. When you said you got farther with the process, I assumed that meant that you'd done an installation and at that point you rebooted to a black screen.
That's a common behavior when the installation didn't provide a suitable video driver.
If the USB stick didn't boot up to get you to a Live Solus session, then we need to back up a bit and try to solve that problem first. And it's another problem I've never experienced ... never knew a computer not to boot an executable USB stick.
Your BIOS/UEFI will have a way to display a startup menu that tells it which device to try to boot. That list could contain things like: Windows boot manager, Linux boot manager, HDD, SDD, USB disk, and so on. From the list it creates, select the one that represents the USB stick you're trying to launch.
On my computers, to access that startup menu I press F12 several times as soon as I see the POST (power on self-test) message appear. Usually the POST will display a message telling you what keypress will display the startup menu -- it could be different on your computer, but F12 is pretty common. You need to be ready -- usually that message disappears quickly.
If that doesn't launch the Solus Live session, then there's something wrong with your USB stick, or I've completely run out of ideas. Maybe something will occur to @tomscharbach that I haven't thought of.
