I want to apologize for an assumption I made earlier in this thread. While speaking of Ultramarine's very long times to start up and to exit, I mentioned that it enables 156 unit files at startup. (That's a fact.) I had assumed that it was because it was based on Fedora 3.5, but that assumption was apparently only partially true.
I created a Fedora VM recently (now 3.6) and upon startup it only enabled 80-some unit files, or about half as many as Ultramarine does. The other half is all due to Ultramarine, itself. My apologies to any Fedora fans who might have been offended.
BTW, in my experience, Solus enables 3 or 4 at startup, depending on configuration, and there's nothing slow about it.
In other news, Ultramarine Budgie is still a thing. After the Solus updates last week, I updated my Ultramarine VM and laptop as I usually do. In all, 60-some packages were upgraded. Apparently, work there still goes on.
