Thanks! I don't know why I didn't find that. Unless ... do I need to select one of the workspaces first? I may have assumed that it would be a setting that's available from the main page, to affect ALL the workspaces.

I haven't used Enlightenment for a long time and had to look ! As I remember it was very fast on my system , but looks very dated to me. I think Bodhi uses an older version to base the desktop on .

Just as a FYI, in the days when I used VirtualBox (Windows 10 as Host), I had the resolution-adjust issue with a small number of distros. I can't remember which offhand, but all were mainstream and none fringe. As I recall, the issue had to do with VirtualBox Guest Additions settings rather than the distro itself, but changing those settings did not work for all of the problematic distros.

I don't know whether it will help or not, but Bohdi has an old article that suggests that action needs to be taken with respect to Guest Additions in order for the distro to work properly in VirtualBox: "Bodhi comes with generic virtual box support pre-installed. Before you install the official virtual box guest additions you need to remove these." You might be running into a conflict between VirtualBox Guest Additions and Bohdi's pre-installed Guest Additions.

"do I need to select one of the workspaces first?" I didn't try to adjust resolutions for individual work-spaces. My previous experience is with bare-metal installations and never bothered with trying to change that. I think it's just an option.

Thanks for your comments. My problem wasn't that Bodhi wasn't responding to a setting change, it's jusst that I couldn't find the setting to change. I probably wasn't looking for one called "Output."

I'll give it another try if we can get VirtualBox unbroken.

I'm not sure if that's a question, or if so, what you're asking. Do you want to know how to create a USB installer from an .ISO file that you've already downloaded? Do you want to know where to get the .ISO file?

Something else? A full sentence (or more) would make it easier for someone to help you.

WetGeek you are digging the Bodhi, so am I. It was mentioned in this thread that it looks dated, and perhaps, but what a singular unique vision. I completely dig/respect that. That's the same spririt that brought me to Solus.

What I am trying to say is :ventoy or Rufus， they all a USB recorder .They can make a boot disk,and install the system in the computer.

No need to forgive you ... you haven't done anything wrong. I'm just trying to find out how to help you.

I haven't used ventoy, although I know that @brent has. He can tell you about his experience with it. I've used Rufus on Windows, but not Linux. On Linux, I use Etcher, which is very easy to use and has produced good results for me.

If you want to try Etcher, you can get it from the Solus repository: sudo eopkg it -y etcher Good luck!

wrefiyu you need an appimage (of course) of Ventoy--the appimage is an installer that installs the ventoy program on a USB stick. when you have ventoy installed on a usb stick you can collect a dozen .isos of different distros to test....and launch or install them to a traget disk right from the ventoy usb. No rufus, no etcher, no accidental write-only converted usb stick🙁. You can add/remove isos and delete them as you please. Far more economical time-wise then single distro burned by rufus etc to a single usb. absolutely not as economical as using a VM I'd bet...

I finally found the resolution settings (again) and I'm pretty sure I now know why I gave up on Bodhi the first time I looked at it. Of the 7 computers here, 2 of them are special-purpose (4K TV and a little Travelmate laptop). The other 5, desktops and laptops, all have a very common screen resolution of FHD, or 1920x1080. Bodhi doesn't offer that resolution.

I think the first time I looked at it, I ended up with a 4:3 aspect ratio. There was no way to get to 16:9, the actual shape of my monitor screens.

With great sadness, I've given up on Bodhi once more. This time I hope to be able to remember why.

I'm sorry to hear that ... I thought that the conflict between Bohdi and VirtualBox Guest Additions display settings might be resolved by the method suggested in the Bhodi knowledge base, but it appears not. My guess is that Bohdi supports 1920x1080 resolution on bare metal, though, or the complaint boards would be lighting up like the 4th of July. Bohdi just isn't VirtualBox friendly, I guess. I've run into the issue with a few distos when I used VirtualBox, and never managed to resolve the issue for those distros.

I don't know why that would make a difference. Bodhi does support 1920x1200 (and other higher resolutions), which I figured must be a common resolution where it originates.

Distros should offer resolutions based on the monitors (plug-n-play? and their drivers). How else could they know what monitors are being used?

With a VBox VM, the available resolutions are the same for Bodhi as for any other distro -- incluing Solus and the other dozens of distros I've tried out in VMs. Apparently Bodhi offers a choice of resolution regardless of whether the monitor(s) being used support that resolution or that aspect ratio.

I clearly don't understand the issue, then. If Bohdi offers 1920x1080 resolution in your VirtualBox, I don't understand what you are getting at: "The other 5, desktops and laptops, all have a very common screen resolution of FHD, or 1920x1080. My reply gave me another idea -- the VBox driver was set to the default VMSVGA. I changed that to VBoxSVGA and its available resolutions included 1920x1080.

However, I still couldn't get the VM to expand to that resolution using Host+F, so I tried installing the guest additions .ISO, with this result:

Still unable to get anywhere. There may still be a way to make it work, but in my experience Bodhi is the hardest, most complicated distro I've ever tried to set up. Since I explore other distros strictly for fun, and this hasn't been fun at all, I'm willing to stipulate that this has been all my fault. But I'm still done with Bodhi.
