No idea why, but they absolutely did that. The Windows version of their app was amateurish, and not very responsive, but it did display a full-size HD image on my laptop. The Android version is much more professional, but the tiny screen leaves a lot to be desired.

If I had to guess, I'd figure that supporting the Windows version wasn't commensurate with the number of users. A lot of people live by their phones.

kyrios I'd heard legend of Windows desktops but I have never seen one for myself.

WetGeek thanks for indulging me...abandoning desktop (heck even remote desktop) users when the majority use their smartphones doesnt seem wise to me but like you said it probably helps their bottom line.
I think they should have developed it more because "it did display a full-size HD image on my laptop" seems a good thing.

brent I think it's it's way easier to record from a desktop, meaning you don't need to pay their subscription cost.

A lot of IP cameras are doing away with desktop support, some I've seen announce that alongside (or at least very shortly after) new subscription plans so they're not exactly being subtle about it.

Yeah, and easier to use. To create some, you just click the icon (third from the left) that consists of black and white overlapping squares.

That's actually the same as in Windows 10, but a different task manager icon there.

Hovering the mouse on that icon displays all the available desktops and a small image of their contents. Here the only one with anything but a background is the one with my Nook book.

Thanks for helping clear that up. Watching the YouTube videos, I remembered how I created the workspaces in Windows 10. 😄

CT42 I don't have ring but many people I know do. Seems to create addictive behavior in some but what digital things don't I guess.. When a car goes by their house, or a breeze, or a cat, or a package delivery it triggers a digital Pavlovian smart phone bell and they drop everything even if they are at work. 87 false positives a day and wasting their employers or their own time.
...viewing/recording shenanigans on a desktop screen however seems cool as heck: big screen in real time🙂.

Sounds like their own fault. The Ring app makes it easy to set zones for the motion detection, from very near to a considerable distance. And if they have the Ring app running at work, they probably want to know when something is delivered, or if a porch pirate is stealing something that was delivered earlier. (And get the video.) If they don't want to know, they should just turn off the app, like any other.

WetGeek the ultra-sensitive settings of Ring was a direct observation of my friend's behavior--he likes to know when the wind passes! And that's why I'm an advocate for ring desktop support: hi-res package thief karma videos are my new favorite genre on youtube🙂
