ionmich, try hp-setup from your terminal, if I remember correctly it's part of hplip and guides you through setting up a new printer. It's a long time since I've used it, so this may not be correct.

if journalctl says that then lsusb will see it too.
solus printer settings don't see a printer at all?
when looking online, as you did, johano 's (and @WetGeek also mentioned it) method comes up a lot. Tack on --help after hp-setup if confused. If HP can't help you, then hang in there.
This is all the tried and true stuff I know of. Others, trust me, know a lot more.

in this 2-year old thread, a person shows HP documentation https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/release_notes) that says there is no proprietary plugin for this model in hplip (as far as I can see).

For Linux downloads, HP recommends another website. If you need to download Linux drivers, you will be directed to a website that is outside HP Customer Support.:

--then HP give no link the "outside" website.

A DDG search I typed "HP laserjet M15 linux" does show a couple success stories.
My brain is empty, I am sorry.
Did you run this OOB on any other distros?

brent Yes the printer works under openSUSE, Ubuntu, and Slackware. Much as i like Solus, it's not for me.

ionmich you are giving up that easy? wow. there's hiccups for everything. and it doesn't sound like you have a clean install from the other thread. but ok, cheers.

Yeah, that would be a good idea. I assumed that the computer is connected to a router, and the printer is used as a network printer. If the computer is NOT online, so there's no internal network, then hplip is your friend. Further advice about that situation will need to come from someone else.

he was probably real close to solving this but I don't think he had a good install. feel bad he bailed after the first hiccup

Yeah, me too. I'm sorry I didn't fully understand his situation. I'm still amazed that Solus can find my HP printer and my Canon printer on the network automatically whenever I log on, but can't find a printer that's plugged directly into the computer via USB. That amazes me.

I do hope that hplip will resolve it for him. It's intended specifically for Linux installations.
