Bluetooth problem

Hi there,
what could go wrong if my solus budgie does not see any bluetooth device?
We have some android and ios phones, a logitech and navon speaker, but after turning on bluetooth on pc, it is just searching, and nothing is visible.
Do I need any further driver or setting?

Try installing the broadcom-sta-current package from the Software Center (System Software > Kernel Drivers). If you prefer working from the Terminal, you can try this command: eopkg it broadcom-sta-current. In either case, once broadcom-sta-current is installed, restart the computer.

In many cases, that is all that is needed to get Broadcom wifi/bluetooth cards working properly.

UPDATE/ADDENDUM:

I ran across this thread - Getting Broadcom Wireless Cards to Work. Reading down through the entire thread, I noticed that Broadcom BCM4314 adapters seem particularly troublesome. If (but only if) the simple broadcom-sta-current install suggested above does not work, the first comment in the thread suggests an additional step that might help. See Step 03 in that comment.

Having some hardware specs will get you more useful help. It would be good if you could include the spec of your machine or at least which bluetooth card it has.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm not an expert on Broadcom adapters (each of my computers use Intel adapters), so I can't go beyond the the standard advice. I'm almost certain, though, given the number of discussions around the internet about Linux issues with Broadcam wifi/bluetooth adapters and other distros (Ubuntu, Fedora etc.), that the issue is a kernel/driver related issue, not a Solus-specific issue. Let's hope that someone else with more knowledge than I have will join into the discussion, or that you'll find an answer searching the internet.

This might not be very useful but on my Solus I haven't installed anything in particular for BT and I still have 'bluetoothctl' in the terminal. If you run that, and then type "list" it should show your Broadcom bluetooth controller. If it doesn't well continuing probably won't do any good. You can type "show" for more info. If you thereafter type "discoverable on" and then "scan on" and then "devices", perhaps the last command won't show anything..immediately, in my flat it takes around half a minute (built in bt without the antenna : P ) to find my fitbit and vacuum (it outputs it in the terminal a while after you've typed "devices") .

@hegetam This might be related to your problem. I did fix it using a new card. 😀
