Brucehankins yeaaahhh, definitely not an Evangelion fan.....

I am also not (really) a big Evangelion fan, I just love the giant robots fightings!

Brucehankins We could start an entire thread on anime series.

Sure, why not πŸ˜€

BTW wrong thread for the desktop screens πŸ˜›

nolan I've not finished Ghost in the shell

D9 engaged me at least. Rough in spots. I liked I am Legend but struggled thru this just like you did for District Nine. Smith and the sets were outstanding but the director and writer were both awful. Like breaking even.

brent I kind of lump District 9 and Elysium together. Both amazing movies.

        nolan @njakes
Didn't see Elysium, will look it up. But I did pop in at IMDB I and I see their similarities, and in fact can see the Elysium scenario someday!--very much an allegory like District Nine (...post-apocalyptic is definitely my favorite genre of sci-fi--probably because it has one foot on this terra.).

brent District 9 and Elysium were directed by Neill Blomkamp. District 9 is his best movie and also his the first one. Elysium has good special effects, but movie is average...

Solarmass That's the tie-in. I knew with two huge stars something would be amiss...it always is. Wil give it a whirl though someday.
One made Contact which was awesome but not sci-fi..much.
One made The Martian which I never was interested in seeing.
In fact nobody mentioned Mars movies on this list yet.
Or Event Horizon (wanted to see it but have not)?
            Astronaut's wife? never saw
Flatliners was wild when I was a kid.
Long way to go on this thread, so many fragmentsπŸ™‚

brent Or Event Horizon (wanted to see it but have not)?

Event Horizon (1997) was pretty good, definitely recommend it! Also Contact (1997)

One made The Martian which I never was interested in seeing.

              meh πŸ˜€

Brucehankins I don't believe anyone has listed Arrival (2016) or Source Code (2011)

Both very interesting, worth to rewatch.

Brucehankins That movie messed me up back in the day.

What would life be without those movies? I missed it from your original list and will look for it.

Solarmass definitely recommend it! Also Contact (1997)

I liked this one a lot. McConaghey (sp.?) was still Wooderson from Dazed and Confused in this one, but the movie still worked. If you keep up with the lit (I try to) we are still receiving some remarkable radio signals/pulses now and again for which there is no agreed-upon explanation. Cool.
