Song of the day
- Edited
I've been a horn player since high school ... any others here? Among horn players, Denis Brain is regarded as a minor deity (his father, Aubrey, as well). Here's an example, written by Mozart:
The horn is commonly regarded as the most difficult to play instrument in an orchestra. I concur.
DataDrake Retired. But I have 9 years of trumpet under my belt.
When I refused to go to any more piano lessons with the evil spinster across the street, my parents bought me a Conn cornet for Christmas one year. I played in an elementary school band, about 6th grade, I think. The guys with trumpets made fun of my cornet. I think it might have been a "mine's loner than yours kinda thing."

Horns didn't originally have any valves at all. Especially in Mozart's day. They were basically German (not French) hunting horns, adopted for orchestral use. Here's an example of the same Mozart concerto played on a natural (valveless) horn. Can you tell the difference with your eyes closed?
The first use of valves on a horn was designed just to add different slides to change the horn's key. It was a lot more convenient than pulling out one slide and replacing it with a longer or shorter one. (Often, concerts involve various pieces in different keys, so a quick change was an advantage.) The hornist still played different notes just with his embrochure and hand in the bell.
Mogwai - Midnight Flit
Enjoying the new Mogwai album. Maybe this song will be by my favorite

I've listened an old good song today on the radio, but can't remember the lyrics and I never knew the name
Okay, there is always another good old song!
The play count on this one has been growing exponentially for me this week.
Cannons - "Fire For You"

CannonballSoup so this is your song of the week? Nice
most of you won't like this. If you stay past the 2:00 minute mark then you see what the real essence of this controversial/infamous band was all about. I can loop the last :47 all day long
brent yeah, I know some of their most popular songs, but not Time
