nolan Thanks for the info Nolan, I will look into this & hopefully it can also help anyone else who runs into this issue. I think it may be a little out of my depth though making it a bit risky for my situation. I will likely just be starting fresh and re-installing everything without a dual boot. Thanks again!

Harvey Lots of great information Harvey....Option 2 sounds like a good long-term plan, i'll look at getting an external ssd and giving that a try....For the time being i'll probably end up just going with option #1...I only dual booted in the first place because Solus is my first Linux experience, and i wasnt sure how it was going to go but it has been months since i even logged into windows, so dual boot was pretty unnecessary in retrospect.
One more quick question...Do you know happens when i shut down my machine & start it back up again? Thats my biggest concern at this point lol, i dont know what happens when i shut down. I assume the windows boot remains unaffected, but would Solus be able to boot using the most recent version of the Kernal the EFI has stored? Or once I shutdown is this current Solus i have install brick'd?
cheers!
Thanks for the response Harvey. I just took a look using the KDE partition manager. It is infact a size issue with the EFI system partition. Its only 260 Mib with 223 Mib currently used. Clearly not enough for the upgrade. Bummer.
Do you have any suggestions for what might be the safest way for me to proceed? Avoiding powering down my machine isnt a great long-term plan lol....Would changing the partition size something a casual user could tackle? Or is it safest just bite the bullet to do a fresh install that totally removes the Windows dual boot?
Thanks again, really appreciate the info.
algent Thanks for the response. I'll take a look for that how can I check that? Sorry for the simple question, Im a pretty basic user so my knowledge is limited but always trying to keep learning...I could have sworn the method I used when installing the dual boot initially called for a larger partition size.. but maybe not.
I'm still able to use my machine, so thats good at least. I just wont power down until I have a solution lined up.
Thanks again.
I Was just running the latest update in the terminal, and towards the end of it i received the error message below. But everything afterwards also seemed to finish updating normally. So I'm Hoping to get some clarification. Given the "FATAL" has me a little spooked lol. My harddrive says i still have space left, over 50GB. So not sure whats up with the

Did you check in the audio device configuration which output is selected when you're connected via HDMI? Make sure HDMI output is selected. Sometimes for whatever reason the default output doesn't always automatically change to HDMI for me, maybe this is your issue too..
All of a sudden today my bluetooth headphones stopped playing audio. I've disconnected & re-connected, paired & unpaired, rebooted etc. They have no problem connecting, but there's no audio playback to come with it. I haven't updated or changed any settings to my recollection, and i connected to my phone which worked fine so its not the headphones. Was hoping someone may have a solution or suggestion, I did a search around the forum but most other issues involved connectivity, which doesn't seem to be my problem.
Thanks for any help
Everything has been working very well on my end, the only slight change i've notice is sporadic extremly breif screen tearing / flickering. It's almost unnoticeable because its so quick, and it doesn't occur too often, just the only thing i've personally noticed. Other wise all fine.
Running on a 3 year old HP spectre x360 and the KDE desktop
Recently just started to give Session a try.. Very easy to set up on both desktop & android with no sign up which was nice. pretty basic & minimal interface. They're a new service and their approach is intriguing to me, so I will be seeing how it goes with this for the time being.
I believe it is a fork of signal, using a decentralized server network & the Oxen blockchain.
The play count on this one has been growing exponentially for me this week.
Cannons - "Fire For You"
Please let us know how the installation process went. I Saw your post, and though this game looked like it could be fun to try if its not to difficult to get running.
Cheers.
Thanks Dean, I ended up going with the deleting via windows & just starting fresh that way. It seems like Gparted would have been much easier, but It wasn't already installed so I wasn't sure how it would work with a live ISO. Either way, mission accomplished. Thanks for the suggestions.
Dean From what I understand it regulates the power the wifi signal uses --using more or less depending on signal strength etc to improve wifi performance-- In my case, since I was dealing with a weak signal to begin with, power managment was throttling the power up and down too often / too much causing my internet to cut in and out. When turned it off, i believe it made it so the wifi power is operating at a consistant power level.
This definitely improved my problem, but like I said the root culprit was my wifi signal itself and the way my card picked it up on Solus. Never have the issue on the windows side. Just a funky one off if seems like.
Dean Glad to hear you solved the problem for your system!
So in the past week living with Plasma, it exceeded my expectations & requirments. So I wanted to continue to windows exodus & allocate more space to solus for more of my files & media. Things didn't go well for the Solus side of my machine.
I shrank 75gb more from my windows partition, and then booted up Solus in a live ISO to access Partition Manage. I move the unallocated 75gb behind my Solus partition (it had been infront/ontop) but i read that it needed to be behind in order to expand it. I moved the partition, then it allowed me to drag & expand into the free space. So i did these 2 action in KDE Partition Manager & clicked apply to implement them
The first action succeeded & moved the unallocated space from on directly above (infront of) the Solus partition to directly below/behind. As it started the next process of expanding into the unallocated 75gb it said errors occued & was aborted. I closed partition manager, powered off my machine & removed usb to do a status check. Windows booted fine. I went through boot loader and chose Linux loader as always, but it failed to Boot solus, it loaded a black screen with text in the top left saying something about a broken shell / exit & something about re-loading or save the USB. I powered down my machine after a few minutes sitting at that screen incase something happened. Nothing did.
Clearly my attempted expansion messed up my initial Solus install. I just booted up the live ISO again & opened up KDE partition manager to check where things were. The new unallocated space is below the Solus parition, just like my action intented it to do. Everything else looks the same as before i attempted anything, so im just wondering best way to proceed next.
Also, In the live ISO & partition manager this time, It wont let me click & drag the parition to expand it like in my previous attempt. It only lets me move & the partition back to the space i moved it from in the first place.
Should I just re-install need to re-install, solus. if so how can i include the unallocated space so i can reach my desired size.. Worse comes to worse i'd be happy enough going back to as I was. Maybe I got a little ambition for just a week into things.
I already dred the potential thought of having to get back to working on windows this coming week if I cant get my act together here.
In the past i have used a Wireless Display Adapter to connect my TV as a second screen. Using a wired HDMI connection works of course when media, but wireless is what i prefer when working.
The wireless adapter I have just runs through wifi, plugs into the back of my TV using the USB & HDMI ports, and on Windows it picks up in the display management options. Is there a way for Solus to recognize this device? Any other suggestions for using wireless display connections would be appreciated as well.
Thanks in advance

Hey there. I recently had a similar issue this week when I installed Plasma on my laptop dual booting with Windows . Seemed to be an issue with Wifi signal. I did a couple things that worked, but it seemed like a bit of a random issue, so I'm not sure if it was just my individual situation or not.
1) I turned wifi power managment off. I found my wifi was dropping signal constantly then signalling back up by the second. I first turned off Wifi power managment off, this helped right away and the connection was more solid & not dropping in and out second by second. This can be done in the terminal (wlp2s0) is my wifi configuation setting, you will have to determine what yours is.
$ sudo iwconfig wlp2s0 power off ### /etc/rc.local
My internet was still slower than usual after this --- But much better than initially -- I have another wifi internet service network for an office, that I tested connecting to, and it worked perfectly, but my normal internet connection for home use was still slow. I never had this issue on windows, but for some reason on Solus this particular wifi connection was much more sensitive to proximity. My location was a fair distance, but like I said this wasnt an issue before. Not sure why it is now. I rearranged by wifi set up to put it in a little more central location, closer to where im generally using my laptop and it now works perfectly fine. Using a device to boost wifi would help as well, if re-arranging your set up is out of the question.
Hopefully this helps. Good luck
100jan Thanks a lot for your help, I didn't go about it quite exactly as how you suggested. But your suggestion to use Gparted made me realize i should just start over and to the partitioning via Solus Parition managment as you suggested. I watched a quick tutorial on youtube to make sure i did the partitioning properly, restarted and everything has been smooth sailing! Loving this OS so far.
The tutorial i followed for anyone who might stumble onto this in the future.

I'm finally taking the plunge and getting my feet wet with Linux, and have been fumbling around this weekend trying to Dual-boot Solus Plasma with Windows. I'm stuck with the finish line in sight. It appears installed, but I can't get it to boot up, or get the boot option to appear at start up.
I've successfully created the ISO USB using rufus DD formatting, created a 100gb partition on my SSD from the windows side before hand to install Solus onto. Secure boot is disabled. And It appeared to work & told me to re-start my computer. I did, but it just re-booted into windows, with no Solus at start up
I went to try & re-install it thinking it must not have worked, but it showed a new option of "Replace existing 4.2 fortitude" so it seems to have installed properly. Next I found a potential solution using the EasyUEFI tool. Going through those steps I found the solus boot file installed on my computer & added it using boot list EasyUEFI platform. It seemed correct, but when I powered back up, Windows boot loader was my only option. The other option available was boot through EFI file, but i gotta be honest im afraid to click things I have no idea about. Sometime i feel like this is defusing an explosive lol.
Any help would be very appreciated, I've been searching for hours but cant quite get it.
I feel SO close, it might just drive me insane, but I'm optimistic it will be worth the venture. I
