did this twice...once successful...once unsuccessful...
the lvm warning is about encryption ("encrypted Systems" in the boot rescue tutorial). I had no luks so I remember skipping that section
tutorial says you need to be sudo su (root) for all commands
you got this: "Once found, replace the βsdX#β in the following command with the partition and mount to the target directory we created: mount /dev/sdX# /target"---that gives you bash error
before chroot were you able to do all three required mounts? (proc, dev, sys)
and you did those 4 steps at bottom to restore network?
all I got is jagged stressful memories of this so I'm throwin out every clue I remember. if you did every step correctly then I don't know how to proceed.
more stuff I remember--had to attempt three times. I jumped out of tutorial sequence a few times when I was figuring out what did not pertain to me and what did I remember saying to myself (no offense mods!) "this tutorial could've been sesame-streeted down for me..."π
good luck, man. this took me a day.
I hope someone steps in where it will take you 5 minutes!
edit: I also remember reading about 40 forum threads here in live usb as I'm sure you are
