Considering buying an Epson EcoTank ET-15000 printer, for the price with the thickness of a4 paper it can handle it seems like a good buy.

They seem to be a bit in between on Linux support though? On one hand they mention not supporting Linux in the future I remember reading somewhere but they have drivers for Ubuntu and a few others for this model in question http://support.epson.net/linux/en/imagescanv3.php

I noticed there is an Epson package in the Solus repositories but I also found a Solus user having difficulties with a similarly named model.

So, anybody know if it works on Solus?

palto42 ouch, how unfortunate, this Epson printer seemed like a good machine for the money otherwise. Having such a great time on Solus. Hard to find an inkjet printer that can take 300g A3 (typed A4 earlier by mistake) papers and has refillable ink. Need to consider saving up more money perhaps for another printer.

algent For the "Driver 2" version Epson is also providing a source package for download epson-inkjet-printer-escpr2-1.1.15-1lsb3.2.src.rpm, but it needs some other settings for packaging it with solbuild than the "Driver (1)" driver (just did a quick try with just replacing the source package).
The "issue" is that this is a tar.gz in a rpm file and not just a plain tar.gz and only the first rpm level is automatically unpacked by the packaging process. My simple approach to fix this is to add an untar command in the setup. The packaging worked, but can't try it since I don't have such printer.

palto42 Wow, that's great! I haven't been able to find another printer in similar price range so maybe I'll bite the bullet. The worse case scenario is that I need to run Ubuntu, but since there's some potential it could work on Solus I'll hope it will work (fully understanding it might not).
