Wired network fail to connect

I have a full time wired connection and haven't experienced this issue. If it was common, I'm sure we'd hear about it. However, there could be a kernel issue (grasping at straws probably).

brent If I let the cord in it says disconnected and try to load from time to time successful (most important I do not have connection to the internet). Thanks for the tips though.

Actually is really weird. I never had before any wired issue connection with Solus (always full time connected). All began with the new Solus 4.

And that's why I say a kernel issue, I think we got a kernel update with it. But then again, it could be budgie too I guess, with the network applet?

dbarron I have the same problem in KDE testing. I did not try yet MATE and Gnome though. The kernel issue is maybe a good point to begin with.

I have a F/T wired connection, too. Kernel may way very well be. Settings: network may yield some clues.
If we were in the windows days, I'd guess a hardware or software conflict. I don't know if such a thing exists in linux.

I know this post is nearly a month old but I'm also having the same problem although I cannot connect at all even by unplugging restart then plug the cable,
I tried to connect through static ip but no use its been two days since I installed Solus, the first day was working great until I switched off my PC and switched on the next day my connection will be on loop most of the time with no connection.

Justin no it doesn't i tried to reinstall Solus but then i saw that even through Solus live USB my internet connection won't establish

Justin just to be clear about me and my system i'm freshly noob and Solus is my first distro and it's on dual boot along side Windows 10.
my MOB is Asus Z87 with Intel i217-v network chip.

so if there is any info you need to know about my system or commands that i need to do in temrinal please
tell me about it so i could boot back to Solus and executed.

One way I would start figuring out what is really happening is seeing if it is the same controller and/or driver having the same issue. It would be nice if the OP and anyone else effected by this issue would post what controller+driver combo they have to see if there is a pattern, it could even be a certain family of controllers made by a certain manufacture. This doesn't affect me currently because I typically don't use wired connections, not saying it doesn't exist for me but I can do some tests on the computers I have and see what happens.

one_good_eye you mean i do lspci ? or is there other code for it so that it would be clear for everyone else ?

Seeing that an Intel network chip could be affected seams odd to me. From what I have seen online Intel controllers typically don't have issues. One command that might be of use to help diagnose lspci -vvv | grep -A 20 Ethernet this should display the kernel driver that is currently in use and some other info. On arch a few years ago someone had a similar issue with that Intel controller. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=191981

EDIT alawi3d ya lspci should help with the beginning steps of what is going wrong. Also my laptop I am running Solus off of currently does use a Realtek Ethernet controller 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL810xE PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev 05)

alawi3d Arch is a different ball game, I have run manjaro and had to do PKGBUILD for some of the software I needed. Compiling is something I will have to leave to those who know it better because that is one area I would like to work on in linux.

Still can't use Solus since I can't connect to internet 😔
Should I format and reinstall Solus again?
Or is there other way to solve this problem?
