I logged in two Outlook email accounts through Mailspring. I -love- the interface. I was able to do this -without- needing to login to use Mailspring. There was a "Skip This Part" button that I was able to hit and allowed me to add my emails without login in to do so.

MailSpring is everything I could want. It's beautiful.. and I am seeing change and I like what I see.

I am very interested in the fact that Mailspring is restarting development on Nylas Mail! It's what MailSpring is based off of and is supposed to be a free and open source version.

Tried out the DavMail connector and Mailspring; what an interesting solution & a beautifully designed mail client!

While playing around with it, though, I found it missing a feature, which (sadly) makes it a "hard no" for me: there's no ability to move emails between accounts. I'm sure it's a very specific need of mine that few others share, but on a regular basis I need to reply to an email sent to one account with another account. Evolution can do that; unfortunately, Mailspring cannot.

That's trivial to do with Thunderbird. When you reply to an email, there's a drop-down list of addresses representing all the supported email accounts, with the original address defaulted, as it's most often the one you'll want to use. But you can choose the "from" address to be from any of your existing accounts.

It's an example of the kind of feature you don't know you need until the first time you need it.

Thanks for trying out my suggestion.. I appreciate it and Im glad you liked Mailspring even if you decided not to use it.

My suggestion would be to pay attention to the getmailspring.com website and pay attention to their open-source Nylas project. It will be based on the same code and will have a huge community of devoted users when it comes back. You might be able to suggest that as a feature and use Nylas instead. Same developers working on both projects AFAIK.

Completely agree, @WetGeek; however, I definitely fall into the camp of not particularly liking the design of Thunderbird and, frankly, too lazy to go theme-hunting...

Opening Thunderbird ALWAYS ends up with me spending hours devoted to theming and extension hunting. I -hate- wasting my time like that.

moore-bryan you can get thunderbird 91 directly from Mozilla's website,thats what i did. it is yet to be updated to 91 on most repos.

I installed it, too, and will play around a bit... I'm just not quite sure it's "better" than Evolution...

One of my favorite things about Thunderbird is the 'unified' viewing option. I also really like how easy it is to transfer emails around and, better yet, pull a select few into my local folder. Like @WetGeek , the more time passes, the less I want to share; the less I want to be a commodity for the big tech - though in some ways Mozilla is looking more and more like a big tech as it seeks a 'third' way from the largess of Google advertising. There is no perfect answer. Only the answer that works best for you. I might be going a little too deep down the rabbit role, purchasing a Pine Phone and loading PostMarket OS (Posh but want to get use to SXMO)...the goal is to rid myself of Apple. Not likely to happen with entire family eating turkish delights in their walled garden. I digress...

Since I have only one email account and I use Gmail (please don't laugh) a Brave browser external web app opening in it's own window (is it called SSB?) works for me. Otherwise I would use Thunderbird. People with one email account don't need more than a web browser unless the webservice is sluggish crap, spiked with ads and annoing stuff going on.

I think Firefox called them SSB (Single Site Browsers) and I don't believe Firefox is going to continue development of SSBs. I think Brave (which is Chromium) calls them PWAs (Progressive Web Apps).

Same concept though.

simply go to thunderbird.net and press that green button...if you are on Firefox then a download prompt will appear that clearly will say thunderbird 91. as easy as that 😃

we can expect it to land on our repo soon:

edit: it will be in form of an appimage.

moore-bryan There are two types of people that work with computers in my experience.. detailed-oriented types and visionaries. I fall into the latter group.. I see big pictures well.

[deleted] Unfortunately the download process didn't work like that for me.

The filename ended with a tar.bz. Nothing I did could make an AppImage version show up as an alternative.

However I was able to find the AppImage easily enough for Thunderbird 91 at this github page. I looked for an official version but I can't tell if this is one or not.. it looks official-ish.

The author srevinsaju looks legit.

Gnome Evolution. Aso, Vivaldi has just released a beta email client right inside the browser. Trying it out now because there are some look-n-feel disadvantages in Evolution.
