Solus Quick Setup Script.
After the Solus installation is completed, and you boot up for the first time, i use this script menu to easily update, remove & install apps, or apply any tweaks i normally use.
I want to see each menu entry complete succesfully, before moving on to the next entry, which is why i did not make one long script. For instance if i under entry 3) (picture below) have spelled a package name wrong, i close the script and correct the error, when i start the script menu again, i can continue from entry 3).
With this menu i can under entry install all my apps (currently 486 software packages), just by clicking ”3” on my keyboard. You will need to manually edit the script, so that the software you use will be installed, and you have to keep it updated, with the software you install along the way.
To be able to run the script, you need to enter ”Nautilus” (the filemanager) ”Preferences” > ”Behavior” > ”Executable Text Files” and choose ”Ask what to do”. When doubleclicking a script file, you will now be prompted to ”Run in terminal”, ”Display”, ”Cancel” or ”Run”. To run the script you choose ”Run in terminal”, and if you want to edit it choose ”Display”.
You need to edit entry 3, 7 & 8, so that it fits your system and the apps you want installed, the entries you dont use can be ignored, or removed from the script. If you need any help with editing the script entries, let me know.
You can copy the code below into a texteditor, save it like this ”Solus Quick Setup Script.sh” as an example. Remember to make the file executable by right-clicking on it, then ”Properties” > ”Permissions” & then click ”Allow executing file as program” (i am using Nautilus and Budgie).
The script can be found here:
