Decided to 'bite the bullet'. Followed the steps supplied by Solus dev team. Update smooth. No problems, except still no wifi with the new kernel, so will use the 5.3.18-140-1 for now. Thanks for all the encouragement guys!

I read the documentation and was scared as crap of this update. I only have one system, too. And my WIN backup is gone. I decided to "grip it and rip it" in golfing parlance..I did not take precautions as others did. Blind faith has got me this far with solus🙂. It was bumpy today. Black screen, tty logn, error messages in red type. It all worked out eventually. I think.

Fair winds and smooth sailing here on my UEFI system update. My BIOS system is slated for updating when I return to campus Monday. I'll post if something comes up, but otherwise no news is good news. Thanks, Team!

Ran the update over the software center. Then a sudo sync in the terminal, then logout and switched off using the switch as described.
Then switched on and everything apparently went well. No problem found so far.

Yesterday, all went fine on my old X200 Thinkpad, and today all went fine on my old W520 Thinkpad ! I guess all will go fine on my R400, too ! Old Thinpads are the best, and so is Solus !

Did anyone notice a speed bumb with the new version of Solus network copying files in Nautilus? Here I have one, roughly 5x (!) copying stuff via Wifi/Nautilus to my NAS. Before: not more than 1.1 megs/s, now 6 megs/s :-o

I haden't noticed it before you mentioned it, so i tested it on my NAS over a wired connection. I also get a nice speed boost, even though it is not as big as the one you got, went from around 60 mib/s to 75 mib/s, which is a really nice boost!

Something i noticed yesterday, was that when i run: systemctl list-unit-files --state=enabled --no-pager i used to get 12 services + fstrim timer, which is a pretty low number i think, compared to other Linux distro's (on my raspberry pi i have 34 services).After the update i get 4 service + fstrim timer. No idea why there is this big drop, after the new systemd update...

That's the invocation I use to decide how "slim" a Linux distribution is. So many of them try to enable every service one might possibly need in a lifetime, it seems. Distros like Ubuntu start out a new installation with upwards of 90 enabled unit files and Solus' 12 were what got me to try it in the first place.

With a result of 4 with this release, it's clear that the developers are still working on making this a fast, efficient distribution. That it's also a beautiful distribution is just a bonus!

Just updatet my Solus Gnome using : sudo eopkg up, then sudo usysconf -f and sudo sync. Rebootet. Result : everything runs extremely smoothly (as usual since the Evolve time). Thanks guys. Good job.

WetGeek For some of us running on modern and maybe even fat hardware, it's more important to be beautiful useful and stable, than to be lean. 🙂 Not that lean is bad...I belong to the old school of efficiency. If I won't use a service ever...or software forever..like more than once a day, it should run on demand and not constantly.

weird, i just discovered it only happens when rhythmbox is open, ctrl-f opens the search pane in rbox, even if rbox doesent have focus, making ctrl-f in gedit for example impossible
