I know there are already a couple of similar topics to this issue on here but none of the solutions work for me unfortunately. And since those topics are rather old I'm opening a new one.

I've been trying the entire evening to install Solus 4 Budgie on my desktop PC. When I start from my USB drive (EFI) I get the infamous black screen with blinking cursor.

I already tried to do these things:

  • nomodset
  • tried restarting lightdm with every nvida driver installed
  • upgrading the entire live USB via eopkg up
  • tweaking several things inside the bios (like disabling CSM, disabling "Above 4G Decoding")

When restarting lightdm its journalctl just states that it failed without any reason. I found the error "Failed to load NVIDIA kernel module" inside /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Any help would be highly appreciated! I'd love to be able to use Solus also on my desktop!

Try installing nvidia-glx-driver-current and restarting lightdm.

Justin I already tried that but it didn't help. I also tried it with the beta driver.

saitam ah, I see. Thank you for your answer!
Hopefully there will be an updated ISO soon.
