I started noticing when I'm turning up/down the volume where it triggers the volume for HDMI instead of the default line-out I set. I have to manually open of Raven and pick line-out to temporarily fix the problem. I can't seem to find the trigger for the switch. I checked journalctl but I only got these

JoshStrobl I am using the stable repository

davidjharder I haven't confirmed if my issue triggers the same way but I'll check after a reboot. I'm not 100% sure but I think it does it right after my computer locks after idle. I will post an update once I confirm

tothecloudd0 Is this recently (like last update)? Could you get me the last few transactions where there was package updates, like from our sync, from eopkg history please?

JoshStrobl I can't say it started happening exactly the day of the update but I do know I started noticing it the following days after. Here is the last update log from eopkg history

Edit: I just realized there's this line on eopkg history too about pulseaudio being upgraded
      * pulseaudio is upgraded from 12.2-37-1-x86_64 to 13.0-38-1-x86_64 with delta.

tothecloudd0 Let's see if it is related to pulseaudio, mind doing sudo eopkg install https://packages.getsol.us/shannon/p/pulseaudio/pulseaudio-12.2-37-1-x86_64.eopkg, reboot, set your output device, then restart again please? Thanks!

JoshStrobl Thanks I just did everything you said. Since I'm not 100% sure when and how this issue triggers I'll let you know if I notice it in the next hour or so if not sooner
          user@linux ~ $ pulseaudio --version
          pulseaudio 12.2-rebootstrapped

It's been an hour and my computer has been rebooted twice, and left idle to lock about 3 times since I have to leave the office but it looks like it's not switching to HDMI by itself anymore. It might have actually been the pulseaudio update that caused the issue. Thanks @JoshStrobl I think this is another case solved! much appreciated

tothecloudd0 Thanks, I'll see about getting it reverted. I checked it on my system and can indeed confirm that it's switching me to HDMI instead of my Blue Yeti and now I'm annoyed.

Thank you for reporting the issue!

If someone is on unstable and has problem with pulseaudio, please test with this package and let me know if it helps

@kyrios Given I'm not seeing any diffs submitted with this, care to explain what is supposed to be different with this package?

JoshStrobl For now I added this patch (and also this one). I'm still looking further but I don't want to add too many patches at once. The thing is that on my laptop with just internal speaker/mic jack & usb audio I don't have any issue so I can't test myself. Even the overlay when -/+ the volume is working fine here (on MATE).

                9 months later

Hi, I'm currently getting a similar issue.
When I return from Idle-to-lock the sound output has switched from S/PDIF to Hdmi(monitor).
What data should I provide to help investigate?
