Solus 4 ?
Why would we even go from Budgie 10.5 to Budgie 11 to Budgie 5?
I do not care about the numbers, whatever you name them. I only care about the impatience. That's all.
JoshStrobl, maybe we want confuse them, numbers out of sequence and all
I was thinking this morning about the numbers, and why it thrills me to see them roll. I came to a very strange conclusion, that I apparently like downloading large amounts of data and seeing change. This make absolutely no sense, but it's the conclusion that I came to. I mean, I prefer real upgrades that provide bug fixes and new features, but part of me just wants the data to roll.
I know it won't be released with Solus 4, but are there any news about the Plasma release ? I feel like it's been a while since I heard anything.
Now I start wondering... perhaps there were some guys keeping on asking to Microsoft devs when will Windows 4 be released... after some time they found a way to solve this problem: 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista, ...
And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend. Legend became myth. And one day a Microsoft Engineer decided to put some order in the version numbers : 7, 8, 8.1 but then some evil users started harassing them again asking when version 9 will be released... As a revenge, he decided version 9 would never be released and now Windows will remain in version 10 forever !
So you all who keep on asking when version 4 will be released, do you realize all this mess was caused by you !!!??
I do not care about the numbers, whatever you name them. I only care about the impatience. That's all.
You care about it way more than Core Team does. Turn it down a notch bud.
JoshStrobl I think you are right.
Greetings, Evert.
Kvothe, it's my understanding that the team has been working toward Sol 4 and Budgie 10.5*. I believe I saw it stated that Plasma work would get more resources after that.
Ready when its Ready
I don't care if you guys put another couple of 9's behind the version number. Might as well just call it Solus and have updated images every once in a while, like summer 2019 for example. That being said i would love to see the kernel 5.0 and mesa 19.0 but that's because i ordered a Radeon VII and it's recommended to have the latest and greatest at this point

Spoiler: they jump straight to 5
Gaming4LifeDE If that's all that happens, then why do people act as if Solus 4 is going to be more than that?

As sad as it makes me, I have to agree with Kyrios , it's just gonna be a particular release that gets assigned a number. There may be some milestone component in it, or it may be 'Today, I feel like Solus should be 4.0'. Take it for what it's worth
I will still get a moment of joy when the bootloader menu shows 'Solus 4.0' or 'Solus 4'.
I thought Solus 4 would have lasers and robots?

I totally agree. Put the version numbers in the bin, and release images every quarter or something, just tag them with the date.
It's starting to get a bit tiresome with all this talk about "Solus 4".
To the devs: Just keep doing what you are doing, and I think we all will be happy. Solus is awesome!
