BuzzPCSOS an insightful answer, thank you.
BuzzPCSOS Just to be clear, is your music collection on your device or streaming.
I have noticed similar problems when playing music randomly from multiple folders where the same title is duplicated in multiple different folders.
strictly physical files music in opus format played from a single location on an external SSD. No streaming services involved.
"I have noticed similar problems when playing music randomly from multiple folders where the same title is duplicated in multiple different folders."
single folder combined of songs culled from a larger location, The larger location is not a source for Deadbeef, only the single folder of 500, no duplicates.
BuzzPCSOS Generally random is not truly random when used on a PC and tends to follow a predictable pattern.
this is all the (*) music players I try. Why is this? Same songs always peppered into mix. Are creators of these (*) music players unable to create a script not to repeat a track in a single session, or 24 hour period? Their misleading settings lead me to believe they can but I've never seen proof.
Buzz at least you are not making me feel crazy. It's a known problem no one likes to talk about. I keep thinking if I audition every player ever made I might someday hear a true assortment of my music.
BuzzPCSOS I create my own sudo-random playlists by creating a non-random selection of favourites so that all the duplicates can be weeded out. Then sorting them on song length and allocating track number while they are in that order.
I did not know you could beat these bas****s at this and fix their mess. Sounds like some work. Am mulling.
Great response.

I have edited your post to blank out the word "lame". It looked like you were using it as a slur, not to reference the audio encoder. Equating "lame" with "bad" is ablest. Please refrain from this in the future, so Solus can remain a friendly and welcoming place for everyone, regardless of ability or physical condition. Thanks.
