Heya folks! It's sync day, and that means it's time for the weekly Solus roundup!
KDE Plasma has been updated to version 6.5.4 this week. This is primarily a bugfix release for the Plasma 6.5 series. The full changelog is available here.
Firefox has been updated to 146.0. Check out the changelog here for more details. Important! There is an issue with Firefox on Budgie that causes a session crash under certain circumstances. The crash occurs when Firefox's autoscrolling feature is enabled, and the user tries to activate scrolling by pressing the middle mouse button. Users are recommended to disable this feature until a fix is in place. This affects Firefox, and any Firefox fork or derivative that is based on Firefox 146.0. Investigation into the cause is still ongoing.
The NVIDIA GLX driver has been updated to the 580 series. The changelog for the current version can be found here. At the same time, the beta driver branch is now on the 590 series. Important! The NVIDIA 590 driver drops support for Pascal, Maxwell, and Volta series cards!
We now have the NVIDIA open source kernel modules in the repository. If you use a 4000 series or newer card, this is the driver set you will probably want to use. Note that it currently cannot be installed via GNOME Software or KDE Discover. This is because the project does not ship an icon, which is required for AppStream generation. We're thinking about solutions to this. Important! If you are using the linux-current kernel, you will need to install the nvidia-open-current package; LTS users need to install the nvidia-open package. The full list of compatible cards for the open kernel module is here.
Mesalib has been updated to 25.3.1. Version 25.3 brings significant enhancements to Vulkan and OpenGL for AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA graphics drivers. The full changelog can be found here and here.
