Heya folks! It's sync day, and that means it's time for the weekly Solus roundup!
This week, all users on the Shannon repository will undergo the epoch transition after installing updates and rebooting. In case you need a refresher about the epoch, check out our blog post on the subject. After today, there will be no more updates on Shannon. All further package updates will only be synced to the Polaris repository.
As a part of the epoch transition, the Solus Software Center will be removed if it is still installed, and replaced with GNOME Software if GNOME is detected, or KDE Discover if Budgie, Plasma, or Xfce are detected. Users can swap out which software center is installed after, if they so wish, or remove them entirely. Note that if you had the old Software Center pinned, as it is by default on Solus, the icon may be broken until you update on Polaris for updated desktop branding packages, and/or manually re-pin an application.
Once the transition is complete, you will receive a desktop notification saying that it has completed. If you had a software center replaced, you will also receive a notification for that.
Later today, and over the next week, we will be deprecating Python 2 and all remaining Python 2 packages. Don't be surprised if you get notifications about new updates over the weekend.
Everyone can rejoice, as we are now officially Usr Merged, and the epoch is complete! π
We have a new package this week. Hyprlauncher is a multipurpose and versatile launcher and application picker for hyprland. Simply bind it to a key to open it.
Security updates
We have a few security updates this week. As always, be sure to install package updates to get the latest security vulnerability fixes.

Thatβs all for this week, folks! We'll be here same time, same place next week for another roundup of the news!
