I'm encountering the same issue that was reported in previous update: https://discuss.getsol.us/d/11355-solus-updates-for-week-6-2025/18. Switching to linux-lts - kernel version 6.6.80 resulted in the same error. Maybe something do to with current Nvidia driver vs linux kernel update. Does anyone have a solution for this?

Yes with the newest update of the lts kernel and nvidia lts driver my system is also no longer booting.

I will try the day the newest beta driver maybe this will help maybe? I report back.

A fresh ISO would another good choice to avoid new user to fill like "oops this distro is problematic..."
remember not everyone is a tech person , in today tech many people adopt linux because it is a player can't be ignored anymore and often do better in most cases.
btw, thanks for your great job and keeping this beautiful distro alive

Two laptops, download capped to 1.2 MB/s so probably slower for that part than most will experience. Budgie DE.

A) Samsung Galaxy Book 12 (i5-7200U), using software Center—17min download, 6min install, 23min total. Reboot normal, everything looks good.

B) Lenovo Legion Slim 5 14” (7840HS, RTX 4060), using console—17min download, 4min install, 21min total. Reboot stalled with black screen for 2min then a message stated that it was rebooting. Black screen (no cursor) for 5min. I then forced shutdown with power button, started up and all seemed fine. Ran Skyrim SE w/500 mods, no prob., then got a pop-up that my wifi died. I couldn’t reconnect. Reboot seems to have that working again.

Not smooth for my gaming laptop, but looks like a success. Much relieved. 😅

The nvidia beta driver with the newset current linux kernel is also saddly changing nothing. Same error, no booting system. Looks like I have to buy a new old amd gpu if nvidia can't or will not fix it.

Everything updated without an issue this week. Everything was slow dealing with Linux-firmware, of course, but that wasn't unexpected. So, three laptops, two desktops, and four VMs are now all up-to-date. 😄

My Windows10 VM - the fifth one - took so long to do an update that I gave up and went to bed. I think they may be throttling Win10 to force more people to use Win11. It's not gonna work on me, though. I've tried Win 11 and wasn't impressed. Actually, just the opposite.

I guess I wrote too soon when I said there was no drama. Now I can't get Thunderbird to respond to a mouse cliick at all. Other functions seem normal - UI, etc. - but I can't select anything with the mouse. It's working fine everywhere but in Thunderbird.

Anybody else seeing this?

NOTE: This happens only on my Plasma laptop. On my Xfce laptop, Thunderbird works just fine.

Yes I am having issue too. I have had two hard-locks now.
Yesterday after I updated I rebooted. Logged into desktop, made a coffee came back to my desk system was hard-lock. Held power button and re-powered up.
First Boot up today, logged in and got to the desktop then hard-lock.
Held power button and re-powered up Opened Thunderbird - seemed ok then Firefox - no response, Thunderbird - then also but stopped responding, Plasma - stopped responding. Tried to login to a tty - had some weird errors so entered reboot at the prompt - hard-lock

Im running an Intel 12th Gen with Xe Graphics - no NVidia or AMD

Thinking about rolling back as issues I can deal with but hard-locks are not good

I think its Plasma that has the issues but with a hard-lock the logs show nothing

I added two email accounts to Vivaldi, just so I'd have access - of some kind - to email until this problem with Thunderbird is resolved. Then, this morning, Thunderbird was working perfectly aagain. I did absolutely nothing to cause thaat to happen.

Go figure! @mouse_AUS , any change for you today? I wonder if something's been fixed somewhere?

Great test is that it accepts the clipboard from Solus Budgie Xorg running on my laptop via Input-Leap to Solus KDE Plasma 6 Wayland on my desktop.

I have a tiny suggestion, for devs' consideration.

Will it be possible for devs to keep the single >512MB linux-firmware package inside the getsol.us/shannon folder so that users have the option of wget'ting the entire linux-firmware, then sudo mv, and then performing the usual upgrade command?

This is so that Solus users can skip the linux-firmware installation time of 10-15 minutes, assuming they downloaded the firmware which has been split into smaller chunks.

These users who do the "wget -> sudo mv -> sudo eopkg up" will also see less errors on Terminal when they install the linux-firmware, which may also lead to less forum posts on such related issues.

No, that will not be happening.

The extra time required for the migration is a one off and they are not errors they are warnings and to be expected given the operation being performed.

What could be a purpose that tty (ctrl + alt + f2) no more working? So normally if something gone wrong I was able to do via tty the eopkg history command and rollback the update.This time it was not possible and the same command just open the boot aeh loader (kernels and the option to boot into the bios). When I try open tty while booting with a fresh installed solus it is working again.
