I've read reviews of people installing these OS's on unlocked androids. as well. edit: well your link clearly shows graphene is pixel only.

Pixel: $600 (edt: seeing sme nice refurbs for 150 and up!)
Android: $175

android looks the best or I will stay in DumbPhone land another decade. I'm OK with that, except for all the funny looks..

Anyone know how to get files onto this thing? My old phone just showed up as a USB mass storage device. Don't want to use cloud storage stuff.

i figured that out
i used a usb-c to usb-c cable, and in the phone, settings >connected devices, >usb (tap it) use usb for: file transfer

didnt figure out how to make it stick though

wow quite a screed. loved the footnotes. the graphene people had nothing nice to say about any of their competition. or non-pixel phones.
In fact they devoted a lot of time answering the question I had above: why the most secure OS in the world on top of the least secure company in the world?

spoiler: the least secure company in the world built the most secure phone.
I am going to print that page to PDF and file it. Like a few on this thread, I am in the market.

AlphaElwedritsch I'm real close to buying a decently-priced used unlocked Pixel w/Graphene tonight. I talked to two different Verizon 'dealerships' in my town..they both said no problem to transfer my plan on that. One said I could use existing sim card, one said I'd have to upgrade sim card. Either way no big deal. I was persuaded by your literature on this thread as well as my own research.

ive had the fp5 with e/os/ for a little over a week now

i removed the selfie cam! dont want that pointing in my face all the time. love that its so modular.
other than that im starting to like it. battery seems to last for 7-10 days with my (non)usage pattern, and will probably go up when the novelty factor is gone.
havent installed a single app, there is nothing that i want, its offline 99% of the time.

you made a smartphone a dumbphone (which I would do if I had a smartphone) which is cool but a dumphone=$60USD and a smartphone=$400+USD and that's the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger and replacing my dumb phone.
Besides, I'm saving $$ for a better vehicle. Our lives are priority-driven, no doubt.

VaSAMiAn mine is at roughly 60% left after a week, but i hardly use it for anythong other than calls and sms, and there arent many of those either

brent i used a nokia briefly before i got the fp5, i couldnt cope with the small screen and huge fonts (that couldnt be made smaller) reading a text msg was a pain, especially since the nokia insisted on scrolling to the bottom all the time - i could only read the bottom 2 lines. typing wasnt good either

I have a nokia 2720 right now and all that is true plus KAOS OS glitchy as heck (to keep in rated PG). If you have less headaches now than you did the right thing.

brent yes im quite happy. the jvc earbuds i just got today dont work though. wont pair with neither eachother nor anything else. but the transparent back cover for the fp5 that i also got today is cool

Lucien_Lachance I am a big fan of the Fairphone project in general. I had used the FP2 with LineageOs for a couple of years, and I'm currently writing this on an FP3 that I've had for about 3.5 years now.
I am using the stock Android, though.
When this phone starts acting up I might try squeezing a couple of more years out of it by trying different ROMs before getting whatever model they have then.

do you ever get tempted to download and app or play some music or scan a QR code like 90% of the population around you? Or are you pretty steady in your dumbphone mode? Asking for a friend.

PS to anyone reading--I'm having an intelligent Ebay discussion with the owner of an e/os on a motorola ACE. These are on;y supported by e/os community for the ace, not e/os itself. Meaning end of life=whenever. It updates on thru a PC/usb not a normal update thru the air. Has a rare headphone jack and a poput tiny drive (forgot name). Just weird enough for me. 300 bones USD. For a first smartphone it really sounds different.

I cannot find a fairphone 5 in my price range to save my life.
