Solus issues on my Matebook X pro.. Help?

TophC7 installing nvidia-glx-driver-current should sort out 5.0

DataDrake I tried installing them after all of this but it didn't work it only gave me a black screen in all the kernel versions.

DataDrake So i fresh installed again and this time before updating I got rid of nouveau drivers and set nouveau.modeset=0 as a kernel param. Then installed nvidia-glx-driver-current which updated some stuff including the kernel and now it seems to be working correctly at least for 5.0.

Now I have another question tho; is my laptop now exclusively using the nvidia card? Because the battery life is horrid. It's been up for about 10 minutes and it has already used around 15%

TophC7 If you have an optimus laptop, it exclusively uses the nvidia GPU when the nvidia driver is installed.

kyrios I've searched around and there seems to be no work around for this like bumblebee in Manjaro and PRIME in ubuntu. But has there been any updates since?

milomak Just run linux-driver-management status and look for Boot VGA to know which GPU is in use.

Hi! Its all going great! Battery life is okay so far but haven't really tested how long it lasts. I also found a way to switch from Nvidia to Intel easily enough with bbswitch and Nvidia optimus Manager so i dont have to worry about uninstalling and installing every time. I love the laptop is perfect for me.

Also @Justin I understand you're from the dev team? (your badge) How do you guys go about adding packages to the Solus repo? Just wondering cause I noticed a package I wanted was not in it (web-greeter). I installed it by source tho so no biggie but just wanted to know how you guys worked that.

TophC7 You could just use Gnome Clock to set up a stopwatch that is turned on until you run out of battery. That's what I did to make a rough calculations of my battery life.
