Harvey strangely, although the superuser article OP never mentioned he had a Lenovo, one of his edit/solved links at the very bottom of page goes into a lenovo-tool (tlp) specific solution (see "gist") for his thinkpad laptop to keep the efivars from becoming swollen.
It dealt with the acpi and kernel and the surgery the OP had to do....I can understand why you don't feel comfortable🙂
elfprince Any safe solutions to increase the directory size or prune some things from it?
not seeing any either. the lenovo tool in interesting though but the solution also required serendipity..
later I'm going to type in 'efivars at 100%' and see what the reading is like.
weird situation.
edit: also I forgot to say when I did some research earlier in this thread I did read 2 'solved' but they involve precise surgery in the efi shell. have you ever worked in the efi shell? the syntax and level explorations are insane/incomprehensible to me. [when efibootmgr
failed me as it always does, I turned to efi shell to fix my boot problems. efibootmgr is a complete failure, that's easy to understand. but efi shell is in some kind of language there is not translation for🙂.
will keep reading.
