If Solus plans to rebase on Serpent OS, does it mean Solus will become an immutable distro?

I'm not eager to see Solus rebased on SerpentOS; I think Solus works very well the way it is. On the other hand, I would love to see what great ideas Ikey Doherty has for SerpentOS, and I hope some day we can see and enjoy a stable version. Time will tell.

Same as "if it ain't broke don't fix it." On the other hand: to me, Ikey has always been this genius visionary so I would expect more celtic magic. I am of two minds as well but I think a lot of positive things will fall into place.
Oh boy, another package manager to learn. 
banger honestly, from a packager's perspective at least, Serpent and Solus use very similar tooling. In fact, a lot of ideas from SerpentOS have already been ported over to Solus's package management system. I don't think you'll need to worry about it that much.
I just don't want an atomic/immutable system. They feel overblown and solve the problems I don't have, just my personal preferences. I understand there are people who like it.

Correct. Ideas from serpent can certainly be used in solus, but it can also work without them and therefore the future of serpent is only of limited relevance for solus. Nevertheless, the situation of serpent is regrettable. not so long ago, solus itself was in a similar situation and was able to save itself, thank God. Let's hope the same for serpent and keep our fingers crossed. It would be a shame if everything they have achieved so far had been in vain

Frequently Serpent OS is described as an immutable OS, but in actuality it is an atomic OS. That means we’ve focused entirely on providing a reliable update mechanism, rollbacks, etc. We have not yet enforced immutability, aka a read-only root filesystem.
AlphaElwedritsch no, it didn't save itself. Myself and serpent saved it. I've tolerated so many years of the broken narrative I'm really not gonna see it happen again.
As for limited relevance I don't think that's at all true, we're solving fundamental architectural issues continuously and maintain the tooling solus will use in future. In anybodys book that's critical stake, and free r&d.

Their are alot of Bumps in the road of life more so In todays world and its how one
handles those bumps that defines themselves and things.
