Are you running an old Solus or Iso?
e2fsck is current with 4.5
Are you doing updates?
If your using a live usb you need be using 4.5 iso
FEATURE_C12 is unsupported till e2fsck 1.47
Run the current Solus I dont think you will have problems
You cant compare stuff if your running outdated software.
I increased the partition size for Sir Solus, however, I keep getting
blueicetwice Well, this is the orphan_file feature that was added with Kernel 5.15 and e2fsprogs 1.47.0
Whatever distro you're checking this drive from has too old a e2fsprogs version to recognize that feature, as the error message hints. When you look at the drive from an (updated) Solus installation no such error message should appear.
See https://e2fsprogs.sourceforge.net/e2fsprogs-release.html#1.47.0
and https://askubuntu.com/questions/1497523/feature-c12-e2fsck-get-a-newer-version-of-e2fsck
brent the 92GB ext4 Solus gets the /boot flag? how does that work? how do you get away with an all-in-one dealio (sdb2) like that?
The "dealio" was the installer, whom is not returning my calls. The Solus original partition was only
about 23 GBs and I wanted to add to the partition of the adjoining unused partition.
I am beginning to learn dat.
brent what are you trying to do with the unallocated?
Merge with Solus.
brent why would solus disappear when you format(?) or install on(?)
Brent, beets me. I wish to merge the gray [unactive] with Solus OS.
brent but what partiton are you trying to format
b2, but as I stated, when formatting the yellow disappears just before final operation.
I am guessing that the formatted partition will disappear Solus.
brent Stuff goes over my head a lot.
Stuff goes in one ear and out the other. :-))

Are you trying to enlarge a partition of a running system?
Axios. I am running an installed 4.5 XFCE. I have done no updates, only
with my girlfriends. :-))
Tanks, Staudey, I will check the provided links! I have already spent at least
one hour of power, Interneting this topic. Oh, I should add, dat I was using
Minty 21.1, when attempting to change the partition.
I will try a live DVD Solus and sea what happens.
"Are you trying to enlarge a partition of a running system?" Het. <---- Russian for no
I was operating with Mint 21.1. One cannot change an active partition while using the same
OS.
Brent, you can see what repairing my OSs have done to my head.
blueicetwice Stick with that the c12 issue is not backwards compatible
as they say dont mix the streams..lol
Prob save yourself some headaches.
blueicetwice Het. <---- Russian for no
That's curious. I've always believed that "nyet" is Russian for "no." We learn something every day.
blueicetwice my own head would have a weep hole for the non-stop air escaping it as I repair stuff and resembles a deflated beach ball left on the ground after a grateful dead concert. and the normal part is I never repair the install.
Your Geekship, I always thought the same. We are now being consigned
to the Ukraining front.

Holely Vaca <----- Latin for Cow, success to address.
Gentlemen, I simply decided to go forward with the formatting since,
I have an internal HDD which contains the backup of my Linux Battalions.
I targeted both HDD, with the gray matter in the partition. [non-formatted]
Bang, let the band "play we shall overcome."
Thank you, for everyone's input. Staudey, I will still review both of your linkies.
A rolling stone, leaves no kernel unturned.
I wish we had a means to mark threads - solved.. :<((
