Installation problem on Asus Zenbook UX303LA

I've been trying to install 4.5 on a new SSD (as the sole OS), using the default installation layout (but encrypted). I can boot the USB when CSM is enabled and Secure Boot is disabled in BIOS (impossible otherwise) and seemingly successfully install, but on reboot it goes straight back into the BIOS (i.e. no bootable drive found) no matter where I place the bootloader (or leave it out completely). Has anyone else seen something similar?

Edit: I successfully installed MX Linux on it so I know the drive is good.

Axios Thanks, yes I saw that. I seem to have fixed it by doing a traditional grub install (going to gparted first, setting up the disk as MBR (msdos) instead of GPT then running the installer. My laptop dates from 2014-5 and I think its UEFI implementation has some rough edges!

to light dunno what.

Axios The only thing I can't do seems to be volume encryption, I guess it's not possible with MBR installs. It's not a dealbreaker, just a nice-to-have thing.
