  • Video "stuttering" at bottom of screen

For several weeks now, I've had to deal with video violence when my mouse pointer nears the bottom of my laptop screen. This confuses me, because I got rid of that a while ago. Is it a regression of some kind, or have we discovered a new way to make it happen? Anyone else seeing this?

I'm using Plasma Wayland here. I think I'll change back to X11 temporarily, and see if it's a problem there.

WetGeek I don't have this when streaming or playing in any media player. By your last sentence I take it this is wayland-exclusive?

I don't remember for sure, but I think it happened in X11 as well. I'm using my Sparky Linux VM today to avoid the Telegram issue on Solus, so it wouldn't be easy for me to check that now.

WetGeek sparky getting a writeup soon in the other distros thread?
last time I had stuttering was with nvidia before I switched back to nouveau.

Sparky has already been there. And it was the main distro that got me through the Solus Troubles in the first quarter of this year. Configured the same, it is identical to my Solus laptop. Not almost, or nearly, but identical.

For the software I use all day, I can't even tell any difference in performance. It's a rolling distro that's based on sid, too, and I learned to speak both apt and nala a long time ago. If I sound a little enthusiastic about Sparky, it's because I am.

            WetGeek It's a rolling distro

The 'testing' version is 'semi-rolling' according to their site. I've installed the 'stable' xfce version on my gnome box today. Not bad.

WetGeek I thought ultramarine did your heavy lifting during 'The Troubles' but that period none of us could directly communicate and glanced each other in passing on other social medias; it was a blur🙂...

yeah that's where I had fedora budgie dialed for the troubles but it was still not solus budgie no matter how much I tried to make it. by that time strobl & co. came back and we all know the rest...

that's how I feel about arch endeavour as a pure backup DE but its crazy when you see solus does so many things better but that's a double edged sword because the other DE has a set of strengths the other doesn't have.
'The Troubles'--as much as I hate to say it--taught me the eggs/basket lesson...

Yep, I realize that, but I'm not sure what the difference is. In my experience, I could easily update Sparky twice as often as I can update Solus. I predict that you'll like Sparkey a lot, if it's anything at all like their Plasma edition.
