Whats the odds of getting our ardour package up to date? 8.1 has dropped and includes some very welcome features, and our current version takes an age to load.

and while im thinking, a couple of questions, why is pipewire-jack, not just part of the standard pipewire install?
the point of pipewire was to essentially provide a drop in replacement for these varying audio libraries, so why not include them by default? any serious audio work will need this package.

and lastly, our package of zynaddfubfx...

it isnt loading the ui into ardour properly, and when you launch zynaddsubfx as a standalone, its using the ANCIENT ui that was swapped out with the new version zyn-fusion

please note, these are not complaints, just pointers from someone who loves solus and wants to see it compete 😃

so somebody has already made the package update request, but i saw no activity on it, so ive requested it again myself
however, i would note, in the past, ive had much better results actually talking to people.

and the zyn issue has be brought up throughout the years. and no dice
also, how would the above links give me an answer as to why we dont include the jack libraries for pipewire by default.

i appreciate the reply, but its unhelpful in this scenario.

    hence, asking the other users....

jawkins why we dont include the jack libraries for pipewire by default.

The overwhelming majority of people have never used Jack and do not do "Serious audio work" so installing it by default does not make sense to me, if you need it install it. Outside of that Sebastian linked to the correct place to report issues. Forums are not bug trackers.

jawkins I've tried long ago to update the zynaddsubfx package to zyn-fusion and man... Its such a headache 😅 Maybe I'll get back to it one day but the install script from github is serving me well.

And I'm assuming they don't preinstall pipewire-jack because most users don't need it. Just like how ASIO4ALL isn't auto installed on windows 🤔 Harvey replied as I was typing lol

TeenCorn yeah zyn isnt the easiest to get packaged D:

and in regards to the jack libraries, fair enough
this is a gripe i have with pretty much every distro, not just a solus thing

i guess my thinking, is that a pipewire without the libraries, is an incomplete pipewire, and solus has so many little "quality of life" things out of the box, why wouldn't audio (for all users, meaning, including musicians) be something to consider?

        thanks for the replies though
