I regularly grsync
a handful of folders I want to keep which=a few GBs of important stuff. But that's it. No full system backups anymore.
No longer do I !restic, Vorta!
or anything. I just stopped backing up the operating system altogether. I mean what for?
If everything goes to heck it's not a dramatic amount of time to get the newly installed DE the way you want it and you still have your important stuff saved externally----it can be copied over fast. I mean who cares if you don't have old .config files?
I don't look at setting up a new shop as a traumatic event anymore. Maybe because I'm so good at it? Printer and scanner first and the rest falls into place.
Who cares I guess is where I'm at.
A full system backup is just to spare you the 2-6 hours of re-customizing what you had already done? That's the only benefit?
I started to view a full backup differently lately. Grsync for selective stuff, that's it.
What am I not considering?
What are the flaws in my logic?
/I go to the board before thinking it though🙂/
