Been my experience with hd disk nuking 1 pass random was enough.
And I have tried countless programs for recovery after a nuke anything we can buy or use wont
be able to recover at 1 pass.
But it depends on what level of security you want I am sure somewhere somebody
has figured out a way but the cost and time to do it is probably only in the hands of the government.
Any scratched or broken platter will be unrecoverable.
And of course SSD is totally different you must destroy.
I have an old desktop with a custom system usb I use for things like that just plug disks into it and do what
I need to do saves alot of time sometimes and frees up my machine.
