FAb7D From my point of view Wayland is beautiful, but not usable yet,
For quite a while, my only problem Wayland was its tendancy to lock up the session if I took a VirtualBox VM to full-screen using the HOST+F command. In all other ways it seemed beautiful and fast.
For a couple days now, that's changed. My computers -- except my torrent server -- all hibernate at night when I'm not using them. And I've had no problems in that respect with Wayland, but recently recovering from hibernation the next morning has been problematic. This laptop has 11 virtual desktops defined, because my workflow works best if the applications I use are each able to run on its own desktop.
That's always worked well for me. The last couple of days, though, recovering from hibernation has left 8 of those 11 desktops empty, with only Thunderbird, VirtualBox, and Terminology restored correctly. And the Latte dock becomes all messed up. Only a few of the program launchers are restored, with those no longer pinned to the Latte dock. So it's a bit of bother to straighten that all out.
I can't be absolutely positive that it's Wayland causing these problems, but after changing to an X11 session, that hasn't happened, I can't think of any possible cause for the failures under Wayland, because it did work correctly for several days after last Friday's update, but since X11 is working fine and Wayland is not, I can't think of anything else to blame.
I'll try Wayland again after an update that involves it, because I did like it a lot when it was working well, and I realize it's a work in progressl. And because there's been no real damage done -- just a fsck'n inconvenience. But I now believe anyone who says they've had a problem with it.
