Staudey Automated translation of web content is now available to Firefox users!
In the interest of full disclosure, one might point out that Vivaldi has also had this functionality (for a long time). Google is banned from my computers, so if the foreign text is being sent anywhere (which I doubt), it's not going to Google.
Does Vivaldi also allow translation of an entire web page ?
Good question. I don't think I've ever tried that. I don't very often view a web page that's not already in English.
I do know that the text areas can be streched much larger. Translations aren't limited to what will fit into that original small box. And I'm sure that scroll bars can come into effect at some point.
WG indeed google has no part of vivaldi's translator. it's an libre engine called Lingavex. I could not link Lingavex to google.

it's appears to translate block of text. which is all I would hope firefox would do. a whole page is interesting though. have not tried this in FF yet

Seems like it's not quite the same as Firefox' new implementation as the data still gets send to Vivaldi's servers, but they at least claim it's encrypted and not readable to them.

how do I get the translate icon shoehorned into my address bar like yours is? I am extraordinarily lazy and tired tonight.

But about my issues updateing well had the desktop off for a month or so fired it up today and used it
tried the updates and it worked on the desktop so its all current now (will see if it continues to work I had it in the past work once and not work maybe its in one those moods..lol)
But the laptop for some reason is a no go still for some reason.
Oh well.
Well the laptop did update this time but with alot of time outs

This went in last week, but thank you for adding amdgpu_top. Radeontop and Core Control couldn't see my card at all, but AMDGPU TOP not only sees it, but gives a lot of useful information on power, loading, etc so I can see the card is working correctly. Great package.

EbonJaeger Everything appears to be fine on Budgie. Thunderbird required re-entering passwords for my spam-bucket hotmail/live/outlook accounts, but that was a change in Thunderbird, not an update problem. Thank you everyone for the updates! You are appreciated!

I probably should have known that, but as I said, I have very little need to ever translate anything but someone's question here in the forum. That icon isn't displayed, of course, unless there's something that needs translation, so I'd never noticed it.
I found out that if you go to the Vivaldi settings, and type translate into the search textbox, you get a full-page education on the subject. E.g., there are keyboard shortcuts for translating a tab, a view, or a page.
I noticed one thing in relation to this Firefox novelty.
If the displayed web page is in the same language as that of installing your Firefox, the icon 
located on the right in the address bar does not appear; if this web page is in a different language, this icon appears and offers you to translate its content into your language, which seems rather logical.
For instance, if you have installed Firefox in the English language, the icon will not appear for all the web pages in this language, but only in a different language and will therefore offer you the translation.

Vivaldi works the same way. I agree, it makes sense. There's no reason to offer a translation to your first language, if the website you're looking at is already in that language.
